itchiness after an OB

Posted , 4 users are following.

Ok so I just had my 2nd OB and finished my medication (1 pill, twice a day for 3 days).. but now I feel super itchy. I have had yeast infections frequently in the past but I dont think this is what it is. And I know antiviral medications do not cause yeast infections like antibiotics do. Could this just be a result of my OB clearing up or the medication? Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, me! I've not been diagnosed yet (I have that to look forward to on Xmas Eve) but I fully expect a GH diagnosis. I finished taking the tablets (one five times a day, over the course of five days) finished on Saturday. I have been extremely itchy down below, scratching in the shower does bring some relief...... Not really a good look at work though. I'm hoping it's my body clearing everything up, and not another break out rolleyes Let me know how you get on smile

5 times a day? was yours a serious OB?

I find the PreperationH wipes helped for the itch. All it is, is witch hazel.

It was my first episode, ever. I'll put witch hazel on my shopping list, got tea tree oil on there already.

Itchiness is quite common with herpes. Out of interest, are you only itchy where the bump is/was or elsewhere? I had itchiness, but away from my bump, so am not sure if it's related.

Its not in the same spot so I'm not sure if its related either. But it doesnt seem to be a yeast infection. Im due for my period any day so maybe thats why? lol - the witch hazel helped though. i dont seem to be as itchy today as i was yesterday

Lol, herpes is so confusing! First outbreak is pretty straightforward, but after that, it's like huh? I was itchy under the hair at front (too lazy to landscape since herpes, haha), but my bump is down under, so I didn't associate the itchiness, but now I'm not sure. It went away on it's own, at least. Bump almost gone, too, so yay!

LOL! sounds like mine. although i havent shaved much recently. i had laser hair removal so not much grows in anyways but it was itchy right at the top and the leison was down under too! lol i took the medication the doctor gave me and the soreness went away on day 2 1/2-3 ... next time i might try and not use the medicine like i did the first time

Lol, too funny! I was also doing laser hair removal, btw (best thing ever!), but stopped after herpes. Might resume in a few months. I still kept a patch, though, but it's now overgrown and really unsexy looking, haha. Heh, not that I have anyone to see it anyway!

Yeah, I think you can probably get away without meds. Mine didn't worsen and I think is now essentially gone, and I didn't do anything. Will pay more attention to future itchiness and any bump correlations, even if elsewhere. I guess nearly anything's possible!

Its just so irritating when i wipe after i go to the bathroom lol i feel like it opens up the sore lol

The itchiness is likely part of your bodies response to the OB clearing up. within a few days it should stop. If it doesn't see a doctor just to make sue everything is "working properply"

I had this and was super depressed thinking I'll never be the same down there..(which ok is still true hence the herpes). I used some of the topical cream they give you for thrush, it's antifungal - within days I am no longer itchy.
