Itchy!

Okay so my outbreak was in October. Still on valtrex scared to come off. BUT I find sometimes..more so at night that the area of the outbreak is itching me. Should I be worried?

Is it permanently itchy, or just sometimes? Have you tried tea tree oil? I found that good at relieving itching.

Just sometimes. But it's always during the night. I haven't tried that but I will! I just want to know if this means another outbreak is coming 😩

Hard to say. Could be indicative of a suppressed outbreak or viral shedding perhaps. Or a residual nerve effect? Just guessing, though.

I just thought about it..my period is coming. Same thing happened last month too. Am I going to have to live like this forever? 😫

Hopefully it will eventually stop happening! I had some weird sensations that I'm sure were due to GH (e.g., tailbone ache, twitchy muscles in my right leg), but they passed. Are you going to try going off the meds to see if the itching is still the same or results in an outbreak? Otherwise it's hard to know without a baseline.

I considered it then I punked out. I want to stop eventually and see what happens but I'm not ready to take off my training wheels just yet.

It takes 5 days for daily antivirals to take full effect as suppressive therapy, and 5 days for the meds to clear your body (for your own observation purposes). Also, some people get an outbreak after coming off the meds, but that may be with longer term use. Just fyi, so you know what to *possibly* expect, but hopefully won't experience!
