I just stated taking cilorpham 10 mg. On day 4 I was so anxious. I called the doctors. I have a appointment today. He lowerd my does to 5 mg for a week. And then back to 10mg. I guess I'm either sensitive to this meds or I just got myself all worked up. I never have taking any anxiey meds. Before. My question is does it get better? Now that I'm cut down to5 mg. Its going to take even long to feel normal.

Hi, I just started mine today and I have the same questions! I dont know if I'm already getting side effects or if it's my head due to anxiety from starting the med.

Maybe not, your sensitivity could pay off. Takes approx 30 days to feel o.k. again, you may feel better by 2 to 3 weeks. It's different for everyone. Hang in there, be active do aerobics or home. It helps

Thank you I've been feeling sorry for myself just sitting here. Being miserable. Tomorrow I'm going to get out and walk and not just sit here.

Throughout recovery the anxiety and side effects will come and go (blips) and this does not mean you’ve relapsed or the meds aren’t working. It means they are working. This happens on whatever dose you take, so increasing won’t stop the blips.
Ride it through - the wait is so worth it!!

Hi Debra
Starting and increasing doses is personal for each person, as we don't all get the same side effects or even the severity either. I think generally the first dose may be the worst? Side effects with dose increases usually last less - probably because you've already got the meds in your system. To avoid side effects its best to increase by the minimal amount - even by 5mg or less.
Usually the first dose side effect last around a few weeks to even a month, and increases (depending on how much you jumped up) can last some weeks too.
If you start on 10mg then jump to 20mg then you're doubling the dose. Start on 10mg then increase by 5mg or 2.5mg and the side effects will be minimal.
Of course we all react differently to meds too - some are more sensitive than others.
Oh joy ....... xxx

Hello I started at 10mg had bad side effects. The doctor told me to take 5 mg. Then increase. I guess I'm sensitive to the meds. Thank you for the advice.

A lot of people do struggle with the side effects of these meds and they do heighten anxiety to start with. Starting on a low dose is a good idea - wait for any side effects to ease off before increasing the dose.
These meds are good and they do work for the majority of people. I had anxiety for 16 years and was eventually put onto these meds, and 6 months later I'd recovered. The work very slowly, so don't expect an instant cure, but perseverance will pay off. They work on hanging onto your Serotonin which makes you happier and reduces stress .... and in turn eliminates anxiety.
Anxiety produces its own side effects i.e. fear, weird thoughts, restlessness, insomnia, lack of concentration, detachment etc etc and we then become afraid of the side effects which in turn then causes more anxiety. So we get caught in a cycle of anxiety / fear / anxiety. Understanding anxiety and the meds will break this cycle and lead you to recover.
Throughout recovery the anxiety will come and go too - so don't be surprised if it appears again after you think its gone. That's the usual path to recovery - and it will eventually ease off altogether.
It took me 6 months - for some people its quicker and others its longer. Let the meds work for you in their own time. You will get there.

Hang in there. The first 2 weeks are the hardest, you should start feeling a bit better in 19 days and even better two weeks from then. It just takes time and it's worth it
