just about to start taking the tablets

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have just been prescribed the tablets by my doctor and will start taking them on Saturday. Apparently I need them as I have 'fatty liver' which is a complication of my diabetes. Thought the weekend would be a good time to start taking them as some of the side effects I've read about dont seem to mix well with work. Hopefully can get some kind of control of things before Monday !!

I think I just need reassurance from anyone else who is taking the tablets, just to make sure I'm doing things right......

Ring the drug company number on leaflet in tablet box they give you a number to ring, six months support diarys and booklets and ring you back they know how the drugs work best and we are here for you for support when ya need a chat. I found the fat counting awkward as i have always done points and ticky boxs but because i have been given the pack from the drug compnay i have been able to say 6 f&v, 7 carbs, 3 dairy 2 pro and 2 fat and work it like that. Your plate being half veg or salad quarter carb and quarter protien carb ie pot, rice no bigger than fist protien no bigger than palm etc its working smile.

Where some days consisted of say nachos and cheese from cinama and nothing more untill after 7 and eating lentil soup i have found just not eating enough for body to work on food. Now i seem to be eating all the time. Got to go to fitness instructor soon.

Thanks for any help and advice, I'm such a wuss that I'll need as much as I can get.

Must admit that after reading the messages on this site I am starting to feel much calmer and sensible about the medication. Am loosing the initial knee-jerking, gut wrenching blind panic that I felt after reading up the side-effects on the internet last night.

So thanks to all of you, you're so much more supportive than my daughter who simply suggested I should start buying incontenance knickers in bulk

    Hi Womom

I picked up my prescription this morning and have just started taking them (so far so good lol!!) Having read other users experience, as long as you try and stick to your diet, you should be ok  I have to go back to the GP in 4 weeks for my first weigh in so fingers crossed!

    Hi Kirsty

I'm back to the docs for more bloods and weight check on the 11th September. So will see how things go until then.

If I'm not loosing weight by then he reckons he will take me off the tablets, not quite sure what he intends to do with me, or what alternatives he can offer ........... Also waiting to have liver scan to 'see what's happening inside'

Have decided that this 'fatty-liver-thing' sucks and diabetes double sucks
