Hello, I have just been told yesterday that I have an extremely high overactive thyroid. Cannot remember the reading, but my pulse was 125. Got the shakes, weight loss, heat intolerance, mood swings, I am now on 25mg Carbimazole, 80 Bedranol (Propranolol). I have been referred to an Endo (2 weeks time the doc says). I was due to fly to Dubai on Friday for Birthday with my husband - but the the doc has said no way!! I am slowly reading through the comments made on this forum - makes me feel a little better. But god, I hate the way I am feeling right now.

Now you are on meds you should start to feel better but, this can take up to 6 weeks as carbimazole cannot get rid of thyroid hormones that are already in your system.
You will find that by reading through the threads on here most of us have all suffered the same symptoms & these can be dreadful especially the tremors & heart racing but, you will get better.
Welcome to the forum. Elaine.

Sorry about your holiday. We had to cancel our holiday in May as I was so ill. My legs were so swollen I'd have had to be hoisted up the plane steps with a crane. There'll be other holidays when you feel better.
This is a great forum, there's always someone to listen and give support when you feel down. Let us know how you get on.
Take care everyone.
Marigold.

Sounds like you have had a terrible time, but like everyone else on here, you are not alone. Sorry to hear that you felt that you have had to return to work so soon and to miss out on your holiday. It seems like you have rushed back to work far too soon.
I had similiar symptoms to yourself and kept getting the shakes even after 6 weeks, in fact, there was no way I could have returned to work so soon. It might be best to speak to your Dr as you shouldn't feel pressurised into returning to work, even if they are short-staffed, that's not your fault.
Take it easy and let us know how you get on,
Margaret

Just been reading your experiences and I feel for you (as I'm sure we all do). Being in this situation is not at all easy. When I got my 1st diagnosis 6 years ago there was'nt a forum like this where you could share so much and also realize that your not alone out there. It's nice to know that other people have been experiencing the same symptoms as yourself.
I've been in remission for 6 yrs and unfortunatley it has come back so i'm on 20mg of carb & 80mg of propanalol until they decide to call me in and do what they are going to do.
I don't think my family really know how to cope with this, I need to do a print out I think?
Take Care.
