Just diagnosed

Hello! so...after years of suffering I was finally diagnosed with LS yesterday. I have been dealing with this since very young (19 years old) and when I had my first episode I went for the first time to a GYN , honestly I dont remember the diagnose she gave me, I was scared and ashamed of being there ...she gave me clobetasol and it worked great so I was good for a couple of years but then the itching and the plaques came back (I am now 31 years old). I went to a different GYN and she gave me clotrimasol wich did nothing to me...I talked to her about clob but she told me that it was too strong, treated it like an infection and told me to go see a dermatologist, so I did and now I finally have a diagnosis. Yesterday she made me a biopsy so I'm still scared waiting for the results but relieved to know already what I have. She prescribed me Triamcinolone, and I have to apply it 2 times a day... I am hoping it would work! she also said the clobetasol was too strong (i dont know why they are all so scared of it! it was like a miracle for me lol) I stared searching online and found this group. I just wanted to thank you all ladies, for sharing your personal journeys with this LS nightmare, it made me feel like I am not alone.

I wonder if it is too stong, I had virtually no symptoms until I started using the clob, after using it my skin turned red and started burning, white spots went away though...

Patricia, that's exactly what happened when I started using the clob. After 30 days of 2x a day, white was gone but skin got really red and a new doctor (because the first one told me not to come back) then put me on tacrolimus, an immune suppressant drug. After 30 days of that the redness was gone but then the pain began and now it's 1 year 6 months of pain getting worse with no help in sight. There are several steroid creams/ointments of varying intensity. We have to find what works for us. The fact that we a re experiencing different symptoms and responses to meds suggests that they know little about this horrible problem. I'll bet if it was mostly men that had this, there would be a cure! How are you now?
