Just diagnosed, scared & depressed.

Last week I had pelvic pain, off & on sharp, & bulging where there shouldn't be bulges. Went to gyn, diagnosed w/cystcele. He said unless it bothered me it could just be left as is, if bothersome he would do surgery. So I was relieved & figured it would get better.Wrong! I feel like something is irritating my urethra and still have intermittent abdominal & vaginal pain. I figured the surgery would be out patient, quick & easy recovery. But I found this group, thank God & realize that's not the case. Has anyone had these symptoms? I have a long history of UTIs, but feel no burning when urinating so don't think I have developed Uti, but have pressure on urethra that comes & goes. I am scared to leave the house. I'm overweight but in good health. I'm 67 years old, retired & live in the U.S. As I have told my husband & my doctor, Women & horses are poorly designed.

I can't offer you help with the on and off sharp pain, but I just want to say dont be scared. I was diagnosed a year ago and I to have found friends on this site. I thought I would have surgery to get it over and done with BUT having found this site I soon realised it wasn't a quick thing to have done. I have no pain and both my waterworks and bowels work well. I do however make sure I dont get constipated as that is the worse thing you can do. I refused the surgery and went for pessary. I tried several and have had a shelf pessary inserted for the past few months. It was ok but a week ago after a holiday it just fell out. I have a support garment that was designed by a nice lady on this site and I used to wear it when walking or working in my fields. I to have horses and find it really helpful. I intend not to have a pessary fitted again and just use this support and get on with my life until such times as this change. I hope this is helpful to you and I agree with Chris go back to your doctor for more investigations. Good luck and keep in touch. The ladies on this forum are an amazing help

First I can understand you're being scared and depressed. I think we all are at one point or another. I am 71 and in Canada.
Since you are in the US, if you have insurance, I would ask to see a uro-gynocolosit ASAP. There are fairly simple tests which take about about 1 to 2 hours to complete where the specialist can see exactly what is wrong both with your water works and your rectal issues and recommend the best course for you. 3 months ago yesterday, I had a hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repairs (they removed he uterus and tied down the bladder and fixed the rectum which had a large tear from the weight of the prolapses).
There were rough patches in the first 2-3 weeks mainly to do with constipation and urine leaking and a blood clot passing but these cleared up just like the people in this forum told me they would. The doctors rarely tell you of any of the "bad" things that MIGHT happen in case they don't. For some people, they actually don't - I have a friend who had no post-op issues. But most of us have something.
Bottom line is that I am now totally back to normal and feeling great.
Hope this helps in your decision about what to do. But we don't shoot older women unlike horses!!!

I forgot to mention that constipation is what started this mess. I tried to eat healthy & this is what I get!
Also I'm more aware about lifting things
But both of my cats weigh over 10 lbs each!
So glad you are doing better. I just feel like my pelvic region is held together with strings & something is pulling them.

Constipation seems to start the mess for most of us. It's the first sign (my opinion) that something is wrong down there.
As to the cat, I had been told nothing over 10 bs for 6 weeks post-op. The cat was a total wreck - he is 14 lbs - constantly asking to be picked up. When I mentioned this to the surgeon, she said Snackers could be an exception since he wasn't "dead" weight. I bent down at the knees and lifted him once - he purred and promptly ignored me the rest of the time. I guess it was the principle of the thing that was bugging him - CATS.
So enjoy the cats at least.
