Four days ago I got a raging fever wit body aches and headaches. It broke during the night, but the next day i got another raging fever in the afternoon/evening. This happened for 3 days. On the 3 day, I noticed severe painand burning when I peed. I checked it out and found three awful looking flat scabs (they were fairly large) on the inside of my labium minora. Right after I saw that, I realized I needed to go see a healthcare professional. I am a college student (19) and I went to our school's health clinic. They did a checked and said it looked like gential herpes simplex. It came as quite a shock to me because I have never had sex. My boyfriend performed oral sex on me 3 weeks ago but stopped after 10/15 seconds because I asked him to. That is the only time we have had oral sex. It really upsets me because it was one time for not even a minute, and yet someone I am unlucky enough to get herpes. I did both the test where they rubbed your sores and a blood test. My fever has finally stopped and I am now 12 hours without it. I received acyclovir which is supposed to help with the herpes. It is just extremely uncomfortable to walk and sit which makes it hard for me as a college student. It also really hurts when I pee. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for pain? I heard this could last for 2-3 weeks and it also sucks really bad.

I also have heard that they will come back 3-4 times this first year. Does that happen to everyone that has this severe of an outbreak?

So sorry to hear you're in pain, the meds should start to help soon though. Based on the details you gave it sounds like you may have hsv 1 genitally which recurs less frequently than genital hsv 2 so that may change what you heard about the 3-4 times per year. It's been just about a year for me and so far my only outbreak was my first. The first outbreak is the worst and unfortunately it only takes skin to skin contact. Did you notice any blisters or sores around his mouth at the time? Does he have hsv 1?

I did not notice any at the time but it isn't impossible that he had a small cold sore. Did you get sick when you had your first outbreak? Do you have any suggestions on remedies that you used to make yourself more comfortable?

Yes I got sick, fever, fatigue...I thought I had the flu. My glands were swollen in my genital area and the pain was unreal. Drink tons of water to dilute your pee. You might even want to pour water down there when you pee to relieve the sting. Air dry as much as possible, a blow dryer is a possibility after bathing. I've heard some advise to use cold sore ointment or cream. Get plenty of rest

Sounds like the same thing I'm feeling. Today I was feverless so that is improvement. And I've tried pouring water while I pee, but it would still sting. How long were your sores there and have discomfort for? Thank you for answering my questions. I'm very nervous about it.

Oh and I got meds after a week and the healing began within 2-3 days. Overall about two weeks for a complete heal

I'm so sorry this has happened to u. Yes the first out break is by far the worst. He would have had a cold sore in his mouth and not even realized it. Drink lots of water and I mean lots that will help with the stinging the meds should start working in a day or so at least they did with me. I know as a college student u are probably under alot of stress and this doesn't help but trying to reduce stress will help.. I found that at night before bed I would lay with nothing on and let lots of air get to the area and I even used ice packs to help with pain. With hsv2 it is a little worse than hsv2 . Try to rest and let the meds do their work

For everyone wondering, the test came back negative and I do not have either HSV 1 or HSV 2. So even if there's all the warning signs that point to having herpes, that might not be the case
