In November I got a flu shot which did indeed get me sick. Then I got Strep Throat got antibiotics but my body wasn't absorbing them so I got a shot. Meantime after taking the antibiotics I noticed reflux and throat was still sore couldn't barely eat or sleep. Now I'm getting some sleep but I wake up with a sore throat and not feeling refreshed at all. Not sure what to do? DOC put me on Omeprazol for 2 months and then he said come back and see him. I hate feeling like this I'm only 30 and I have a family that I would like to grow old with. Any thoughts welcome.

Keep with omeprazole twice a day. Gaviscon Advance after every meal. If your feeling worn out all the time it might be a side effect of the omeprazole so worth trying a change to rabeprazole.   Don’t worry, there’s always surgery as a last resort smile

Is it bad that my Primary diagnosed me with reflux or should I have gone to a specialist. I have a fear of scopes and hate to have my throat numb. I've took a GI cocktail a time or 2 and it puts me in a panic.

    Hi Sophie

Flu and colds can feel a lot worse when you have reflux, why don't you go back to your gp for stronger dose ppi, once your flu goes you will feel better,

Get referred to a gastroenterologist and get the endoscopy so then you know exactly what you have. Get the throat spray and the sedative. I’ve had it twice and would not hesitate to have it again, you even get free tea and biscuits afterwards !

Oh yeah ofcourse you feel nervous, but once you are there it’s easy. The throat spray is fine, tastes quite nice actually. Then you get the sedative which feels quite cold, then your asleep before you even feel the camera going in. Next minute you wake up with the results, a cup of tea, biscuits and a warm fuzzy feeling for the next few hours until the sedative wears off. It’s fine trust me !
