Going to make my very long story as short as i can.  Im 33 my stbxh is 34. we have been together for 17 years married 13 years. he left me at the end of sept because he was not happy. he started seeing a lady he says on oct 1st. they were off and on that month. He continued to tell me he had not had sex with her yet. in the beginning of nov. him and I had sex and we had sex almost all of nov. They had split up. So Dec 7th I go in for my pap and I also asked for an std test. on the 15th i went in to the doctors and was told i have genital vsh 1. I broke down crying right there. I feel my life is over because of this. My stbxh and I are still not back together and he still has feelings for this other woman. So she gave it to him and he gave it to me. I will never be able to have a normal relationship now. He can always go back to her and not have to worry about it. It has been a very hard  week since i found out and a very hard couple of months.

She gave me some meds because she said i could of just had a brake out and also meds because i had bacterial vaginosis.

I dont understand the paperwork she gave me. It says

Herpes simplex virus 1/2 Ab (IgM), IFA w. Rflx Titer

          hsv1 IgM negative

          Hsv 2 IgM Negative

Herpes simplex virus antibodies 1/2 type specific IgG

Herpes simplex virus type 1 IgG Results Positive >8.0 H        <.08       AI

Herpes simplex virus type 2 IgG Results Negative  <.02         <0.8       AI

Herpes simplex virus antibodies 1 & 2 IgI Reference Range:

Antibodies 1/2 type      <=0.8 AI Negative

        Specific IgG:                0.9-1.0 AI Equivocal

                                            >=1.1   Positive

my number is a lot higher then the numbers above anyone know why that might be? I am so lost and confused and hurt I feel like everything I new in life is over. I will never be able to have a normal relationship.

He goes tomorrow to get tested what happens if it comes back Negative? I have not slept or done anything with anyone else. Could I have a false positive but that number is really high. could the  bacterial vaginosis make a false positive?

Any information or words of advice i would love to hear.

Thank you

you have hsv igg 1 (genital herpes) a current one, you have to get treated for your BV (bacterial vaginosis) take medicines, and after quarterly get tested again Take care of yourself, avoid sexualcontact first w/ or w/out condom.Build up your immune system.

Avoid stressing your mind, just relax. Stress can make you have an outbreak.

Whatever bad things happen to you, there is always a good reason behind that, embrace it, and be good at all. at exhange of bad thinhs happen to you, doing good things to others are most very effective way to at ease your sorrow and pain /hurt that you feel right now. Thank you for replying. I am taking meds for the BV. they have me on metroNIDAZOLE 500 mg 2 times a day and Acyclovir 400 mg 3 times a day. Avoiding stress is going to be the hard part with everything going on in my life and now this my life sucks. our divorce is not a normal divorce i wish it was. I am trying to avoid it. I have taken steps to help. I really hope there is a good reason behind all this. God only gives you as much as you can handle well i think he forgot he already gave me a ton and just kept loading me down or i did something and made him mad so he said lets see how much she can take.

its normal symptoms, evrything will be fine, when you drink meds make sure you have enough fluid intake in your body, in order to dissolve

Did you have a genital outbreak? It doesn't sound like it. Given the relatively high positive IgG within just a month of exposure max, this looks to be an existing infection, not a new one. You are likely an oral carrier like most people with HSV1. Most carriers don't get symptoms, so many never know they even carry the virus.

Good Morning, I honestly don't know if I had a genital outbreak. One day I woke up and it hurt to pee so i thought i had a uti (which it still could of been i dont know). then when I went to the doctor and they did the test thats when they told me i had it. Once my STBXH does his test depending on how it comes back im think im going to go get retested.
