Hi, I've was diagnosed with herpes 20 years ago. I presented with small blisters on the foreskin which were quite painful. I have had many reccurences over the years, in the beginning 2 or three times per annum but in the last few years increasing to 5 or six times. Most times now the blisters appear in the same central area of my right buttock. I gave up going to the doctor many years ago as a) He couldn't cure it and b) I had to go every time it occured. I would have preferred the option of a repeat prescription. When it occurs I feel tired and low for a few days. I'm 66 now, very fit and healthy apart from herpes attacks. Is it the same for everyone? Are any cures on the horizon? I look forward to your repliies.

    Hi John160bp,

there are no definite cures but there are so many good hm remedies to help lessen outbreaks, make the sores heal faster and just feel over all healthier.  I don't have the time to write my suggestions but I'll come back to this when I do.

Hi John me again. ... So over the years I haven't had to many out breaks.  I assumed I was lucky until I started looking up remedies and realized I was doing the right thing all along. Pineapple is one of my favorite things, I use to eat it just because! turns out that helps suppress the virus.  I keep healthy, take lots of vitamins  especially C, Zinc, and B6.  Again another known remedy for less outbreaks.  Now I've been taking L-lysine which is a vitamin with c, Zinc, and B6.  I take an olive leaf pill and I keep stress to a minimal.  I've also tried DMSO cream but research that for GH it's not super safe and I'm not sure how gd it works because since talking the vitamins and the pineapple I've been out break free.  I just use it with all that and it works.  Hope this helps you out best of luck.

Thanks Gijane. I have a good diet but will definitely up the pineapple intake and zinc. I get the rest already including l-lysine via my protein drinks. You're right about stress though, sometimes difficult to avoid. Appreciate your good advice. Best wishes

    Hello John,

I've had this for about 5 years now, at the start I was getting blisters every other week and sometimes as soon as one was healing I was getting another outbreak, I'm quite lucky in the fact that they are not on my most intimate area but just my pubic hair area so I can cope with it, when I became pregnant again I went on the anit-viral meds, they did work for me but its no good for the body to remain on the tablets, there is no cure yet but ways to deal with it.

Somebody on here suggested eating fresh pineapple everyday, which I have been doing since my son was born 10 weeks ago and it has worked wonders for me, I missed a few days here and there and did get an outbreak (as a result of missing the pineapple) but it has been the only outbreak I have had when usually I was battling them all the time, so thats one thing to try.

When I do/did get outbreaks I used to use a good quality tea tree oil on the area as soon as I knew one was coming, a couple of times a day and if a blister did occur I would break the blister with a cotton ear bud with the oil already on it and leave it to sting it out for a while, doing this a couple of times a day usually helps the blisters scab over faster and heal faster too.

There is other things too like taking a tablespoon or 2 of organic cold pressed coconut oil daily, black seed oil with honey daily, propolis on the sores.

    Hope this helps John.

      Hi Mandy

Thanks for the sound advice. I'm really into fresh food and natural remedies. I will be upping my pineapple intake and the coconut oil. I also like the tea tree oil suggestion. I'll let you and others know the results. Many thanks
