Fill a bath of warm water, not too hot. Waist high level, pour in half a cup of table salt. Sit for a while until you are comfortable and then move about and find a comfortable position, for me I sat side ways so my legs where spread apart, like a meditation position, if you can, depending where your sores are you can use your hand to spread your labia etc apart a little so the skin isn't touching your pee as it comes out, then pee. Sorry it's a bit detailed but it really worked for me, I cried in pain when going to the toilet even in the bath until I repositioned myself and tried this. Worked a treat. The salt water also helps clean and dry out the blisters and heal them faster, using a hairdryer on cool setting to dry the area after this and bathing means you don't need to touch your sores too.(My doctor told me to do this, the salt bath and peeing in the bath). I did this twice a day for three days X

I went to the doctor on the Friday, by Tuesday I was healing well. I took antivirals for 5 days, the baths were the best thing ever, sitting in the salty water will clean the area too. I used a cool setting on hair dryer to dry off afterwards and I would rub some nice shower gel everywhere else avoiding sores and rinse off after peeing in the bath water to keep fresh. Treat yourself to a nice soap to use elsewhere and keep the sores clean with salty baths, chemicals can make the sting worse or use something pH balanced. Be good to yourself and treat yourself with love and lots of compassion, you are so much more than this experience. (My tests came back negative.)X

Could i ask what your symptoms were and with the negative test results what your doctor thinks it was then? I have one quarter sized sore on the inside of my labia that just itched slightly. I went in got it swabbed THEN the sore somewhat hurt sometimes when i peed. I did have flu like symptoms but then again everyone in my house hold had the same symptoms in the same week.so im waiting for the results and i am looking for the slightest hope that its not herpes...... time will tell of course

When I first went to the clinic I had small sores and was in a lot of pain, at that point I could pee ok. That was the Friday. I was told after a visual examination that it looked like herpes 1 genitally. My sexual partner it turned out had suffered from cold sores in the past but he had not had on in over 16 years. He had performed oral sex on me 2-3 weeks prior to me getting symptoms, I also had fever and flu like symptoms. At the clinic I had a swab test and herpes specific blood test along side all sti tests. Everything came back negative, but, because it takes your body a while to build antibodies against the virus if you have never had it before it can sometimes fail to show up in a blood test so I'm getting retested in a few weeks to be sure. You will feel better soon, ask for the numbing gel, that helps too, and try not to touch your sores unless you really have too. I was told to fill a bath waist high, warm but not too hot and pour in half a cup of regular salt (I don't know what size a cup he meant but because of the pain I probably poured in more than he suggested). X

They haven't suggested any other conditions yet so I'm still thinking it's herpes 1. They did ask if I sufferred from any other skin conditions or had skin allergies, but I don't. So I'm totally in the dark and not having sexual contact until I know what caused it. I'm recovered now. Not in any pain and sores have healed. I think the pain gets worse as the blisters open which they have to do in order to heal.

Symptoms included thrush like feeling at first then burning pain, I felt two round lumps, inflammation, headaches, fever, chills, loss of appetite, then it progressed to not being able to pee without being in the bath.

Is there any numbing gels that you can buy over the counter? Are you still in a lot of pain? The salt baths help ease my pain. I only used numbing gel for two days.

It's almost been a month and I'm still itchy down there. Not like before an oytbreak4. Guess that's my normal now? I'm scared to scratch or anything.

It's a good thing that you are not in pain, the itch I'm sure is just as uncomfortable for you, you could always try and get them to recommend an over the counter anti itch cream if it's really bad, when do you get your results?

I was in pain the first two weeks, when I had the lesions. But on the third week it went away. I used lidocaine to pee. It burnt too pad on my vagina. But now I just itch some.

      Hi,

I'm a little more sensitive down there too, not too itchy, but got to be normal if it was anywhere else on the body I'm sure the area would be sensitive too, new skin healing etc. It's a sensitive area anyway, really made me stop and think about what I put down there, I use cotton tampons now instead and pH balanced washes.

I know what you mean being afraid to itch, scratching the area can turn into that 'scratch itch cycle'

See I don't know what to do. The obgyn said those washes that have the pH isn't good. Just to use normal soap, and I love baby wipes but she said that's doing too much. Literally use water on a tissue if I need to. And regular soap and water. The panties, I'm trying to find a good one. I like thongs, but I heard those are bad for bacterial infection...I had a bacterial viginosis first then my outbreak...smh

Yes, gosh. This whole thing has really changed my outlook on life. Too damn short, could be worse. But I'm not holding back anymore
    • Posted

Really? I always thought the pH ones were better, just goes to show.I love the brand 'dove' soap, I use that a lot, they have one that's kind on sensitive skin too. I love a French knicker style pants, they have a bit more to them than a thong, although I also love a bigger style 'granny' pants - sexy days are over, I'm all about the comfort lol, but they say cotton is more breathable, should help when itchy

I don't know, guess every doctor is different lol. Yea, I don care about being sexy. No body wants this lol

I think if anything it will attract the right type of partner, someone mature, understanding and supportive. I love my lady parts even more now. :-)

I had bacterial viginosis too about a month and a half before my out break but it went away.. When I felt the itching again I went to the obgyn and that's when she confirmed the herpes outbreak.
