Knee arthroscopy

I had a left knee arthroscopy last Friday 23 January! I know it's quite early days but my knee is very sore and I am finding it really hard to do the excercises I was given? My knee doesn't feel very stable and my calf feels like it's going to have a major cramp at any time! Is this normal ? Has anybody else had anything like this? Would appreciate any advice? Many thanks, Angie

I had same procedure on 20th Jan for both torn meniscus and torn cartilage.

I have the same problems with maybe same or more pain than before the op.

I can walk with one crutch, but don't feel that the op has worked as I know many people who have felt so much better from almost day one. Will mention all this at check up next week, but don't feel ready to go back to work as I am.

Angie you need to relax! There is always going to be a differene in how "they" told you you should feel and  how you actually feel and everyone is different.I had my knee arthroscopy in Oct 2012 after a serious knee injury which just did not repond to other treatment. I was in agony for the first 3 days and then the pain started to subside. I statyed on crutches and painkillers for 2 weeks, I used lots of ice and kept the leg elevated. I had physio twice a week. In 2013 my daughter had the same knee op and was given horrific exercies which used to make her cry but she knew she had to do them and push through the pain - you need to do this too like we did, just keep your painkillers handy and an ice pack handy for after the session. As long as your knee looks semi-normal and it's not bleeding from stiches or blue then you should be fine. It's very early days. You can always ring or visit your GP. To ease the cramp you need to drink tonic water - yes it's an acquired taste - but the qunnine in this drink will ease any cramp in your body. You only need a small glass a day, you can mix it with squash or juice.

Thank you for you're very good advice Denise! I think maybe things are getting a little easier.  Unfortunately I need a new right hip which isn't helping lol! It's just one thing after the other! I'll get there though . Thank you
