Hi Shirleyann,
I too, will be having the knee replaced in a couple of weeks and dreading it! However , I was lucky to speak with someone of my age who'd been operated on 4 weeks ago at the orthopaedic hospital where I'm going . She is 4 weeks ..no crutches or sticks ..said that the ice is pivotal ..told me to buy a kyro cuff. She's made a rapid recovery from a painful twisted arthritic knee! She also said physio after 6 weeks ,to be referred by your GP , is also very important!
Very best wishes !!x

Saw the general surgeon today. Described (with actual pictures) how he starts at a rib, moves "stuff" out of the way and clears a path to my spine for the neurosurgeon. No idea who figured this technique out. Amazing. Neuro will remove the existing disk, put in the spacer, expand it and then backfills it with bone material from a rib. Then the GS does the close. Easy...right? A quick 90 minutes... However, he's been doing this op since 2005 and says it's an overnight stay, immediate pain relief and then zero rehab. Hope they're all correct...

Just got home 2 hours ago. Immediate stenosis pain relief. Just dealing with some minor post-op pain since they moved a few muscles around and pulled the bone graft out of my hip. One night stay, no rehab. Google "Globus RISE-L" to see an animation of what they did. Amazing...

Huge success!!! Immediate stenosis pain relief. Here a posterior picture of the device placement before they stick in the Allen wrench to expand it. They went to 15 mm posteriorly and 5 mm anteriorly to maintain the proper curvature of the L2 and L3 vertebrae. Filled the device's empty space with a bone graft from my hip. 90-minute surgery...eliminated the need for more fusion. Google "Globus RISE-L" to see an animation of how the device works...

Sounds horrific, but the results sound heavenly! So glad it's been a success . . . amazing how it's almost an outpatient procedure!

Oops... That's YouTube NOT GOOGLE!!!
I was up and walking without pain in a few hours. Don't even know it's there. Saved me a whole new fusion with 10-days in the hospital and six-month rehab. No brainer!!!

So glad your operation is over and it was such a success! Don't over do it and make sure you rest. It is so amazing what these surgeons can do!
