Lab Result: Thyroid check up after 2 years (Hypothyroidism/Stomach Bloating)

Hello everyone! This is an update of my previous post. So here are the results of my lab tests:

-FBS - Normal (within range)

-Serum Creatinine - Normal (within range)

-SGPT - High

-CBC - Normal (within range) however, eosinophils count is quite high

-Prothrombin time - Prothrombin time

-Free T3 - Normal (within range) but decreased from last result

-TSH - Normal (within range)

I think the above result were good news. However, my ultrasound has brought some good and worse news to me and I'm starting to get worried, if not depressed.

As per ultrasound, my left thyroid lobe which has a nodule has 'given birth' to another small nodule. The old one has not "significantly" increased in size, but it has definitely increased. The new small nodule is cystic but the old one has gone from cystic to a mix of cystic and solid. sad

To further verify if the ultrasound is correct, my endo recommended me to do a biopsy (last biopsy was when I was first diagnosed in 2008) which she says is a "ultrasound guided biopsy" (she scribbled some words on her endorsement but I can't read it lol). I'll be having the biopsy this monday. She has also given me Thyrax 25mg half a tablet a day which can be taken a day after the biopsy.

There are some improvements on my bloating though. I've been suffering with gas (which I also blame for the bloating since it all started with some stomach gas that I didn't pay attention to), and now my bloating seem to start to go away. I kept on drinking hot drinks and get light massaged every other night on my back. Seems to work since I'm releasing quite amount of gases but I still have that feeling that there's something wrong with some of my organs.

Could it be that one of its cause is my liver? My bloated stomach starts just below my ribs, and, with my SGPT being high could it be an indication that there's something wrong with it? My endo doesn't seem to mind that it was labeled "high" but I don't want to be too complacent.

I'm releasing gas but I still feel some organs are enlarged (God forbid).

I am underactive and suffer with terrible upper bloat/ rumbles/gas. Had this before being diagnosed I then started Levo and it went away for ages but then came back. Drs are adamant coincidence and not related.

    Hello PinkuNeesama:

Nurse Shelly here,  Nodules:  I have 3 small ones under 1 inch or 2.54cm.  Having nodules can be from Lymph tissue infections and or redundant thyroid tissue.  Small is much better than large ones and most of us can have a few and I knew someone with 20 of them once.  Most about 98% are NOT cancerous. Cystic ones get old and the tissue clumps together and it gets sometimes filled with some cellular fluid.  Some get crptic and full of holes or dimples, like a golf ball.

The bad news is most of these can interfere with the thyroid doing it's job,  but if your T4 and FT3, & TSH are okay and all other thyroid work is okay then it is not doing any damage. It is wise to have another ultrasound in 1 to 2 years time.

As to your SGPT it should be 0-31 on my USA scale, now the liver can be FATTY, which can be from other meds you are on, diet problems, alcohol, Diabetes, etc....do live clean andavoid alcohol and high fats in the diet.  It can be reversed if you do your part. If there is any tenderness in your upper right quadrant of the abdomen report that to your doctor.  Also have them check for Bilirubin, a blood test for that can check for Hepatitis or inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis can make your skin get yellow and you will feel very tired and not want to eat.

Any GP can do this test.  Also check for GERD, acid reflux, it causes gas big time and bowel problems and pain around the chest area.  Some have all symptoms and some have just a few.

    I hope this helps,

    Shelly

Thank you Shelly. I'm a little depressed because my aunt recently died of leukemia. There might be chances that my goiter is cancerous but there's also a good possibility that it's not. I've re-scheduled the biopsy tomorrow afternoon.
