Hi,
Does anyone know the difference between Lansoprazole and Omeprazole and any stories/ success stories on either used for Gastritis? I'm not having much luck with Omeprazole!
Thanks!

Hi, I was prescribed both, but I can't say if there was any difference at all.
This is my experience:
I was first prescribed lansoprazole, which I took once daily for about ten days whilst I waited for the h. pylori test results, as it was positive I took it twice a day for a week along with antibiotics. During that time I experienced constipation and my gastritis symptoms worsened, I can't say if it was because the infection itself, the antibiotics or lansoprazole, but once I finished the antibiotic treatment I stopped taking any tablet and constipation was gone... however I was feeling miserable after that, the Gp had told me that symptoms take two weeks to settle down after the treatment, but after ten days post-treatment suffering I contacted my GP and got a omeprazole 20g prescription for three weeks, twice daily. I got constipated again, three days no poo, I had to take a laxative lactulose for another three days, but after that I have been feeling better, I have not needed laxative ever since, and still one more week before finishing this prescription and check up with my GP what to do next.
I haven't experienced any major difference between these two, it's hard to say as both were taken at difference stages, my GP only mentioned that "some people respond better to omeprazole" and that's why they changed the PPI prescription.

I am completely new to this forum BUT I have had constant gastritis for over 4 years. I am 70 years old.
I have been prescribed and using omeprazole at 80 mg a day and still not sure that it has helped much.
I do not know what lansoprazole is? I have recently been turning to diet for relief. Any ideas there?
