Liposuction my only resort. Has anyone had lipo ?

Since on peri i gained 45 pounds and looking in the mirror everyday has left me feeling depressed. I feel like the person looking back at me is not me, from the weight gain, depression and days where the aches and pains leave me in a state where i cannot move much less work out. I never in my life looked and felt this way. I feel unattractive with my moods out of control, crying, anger, frustration, pure hell going on inside my body and mind. They say women shouldn't focus too much on their looks but i do. The way i present myself all packaged makes me feel good. I cannot go another yr feeling and looking like this, something had to be done. I am taking drastic measures for my mental wellbeing. I am selling my home, so i have new energy, plus buying a new car. I was going to start bioidentical hormones but a friend told me it gave her weight gain so i geared off that idea. Been doing smoothies, eating right and taking vitamins which help a bit but the weight is not coming off. I am scheduled to see a plastic surgeon on Wednesday for a consultation. Has anyone going through peri and meno had lipo ? Thanks

Hi hopeforever
I know what you mean. I just don't seem to take any interest in what I look like. I still give it a go but I look the same as I feel some days.... Worn out. I've never thought of lipo, I'm a bit of a puss when it comes to volunteering for pain lol but I can definitely recommend bhrt. I didnt have any weight gain at all and for a good 9 months, I felt amazing. My advice would be to treat the cause first and not the symptom. Sounds like you're giving everything an overhaul which is so great, but just try some treatment before going under the knife. Best of luck to you, I bet you look fabulous xxx

I totally agree that's very drastic! Personally I'd be trying hrt! Your frame of mind is not helping your metabolism! You hav to deal with the root of the problem!!! Menopause! I'm 9 stone and feel crap! Started on hrt and the sky is goin to be the limit! Your not alone! Plus I think your depression is definitely not helping! You need to see through the haze 1st! Plus hrt isuch cheaper! Never say never to medical intervention! At some point we all will need hrlp!!

What kind of smoothies are you drinking? I'm so sick of mine--- spinich, blueberries and whey protein and used to drink that for years but lately yuck.. Lipo--- yes have been thinking about botox, santibello, etc... I'm just unhappy and angry that I don't feel well. I still get heavy periods so recently I was given an option of a hysterectomy to speed it along SOOO my mom said do the surgery for quality of life AND at the same time get a tummy tuck!! I'm sure many women do both at the same time. Not sure yet but I'm seriously thinking about it..

I have the weight gain and am struggling to take it of pound by pound. It has affected my health and mental well being. I gained 52 lbs during peri and have taken off 16 lbs in post. with dieting and intermittent fasting. I am pre diabetic for the first time in my life! I am 51 years old and post menopause now and it has been an uphill struggle to lose weight. I feel dumpy I have spider veins and a varicose vein on my legs. My odd body pains have me depressed and grumpy. I would love to sell our house and move back home around friends and family. My husband likes his job so he is not on board with anything of it. Which is creating a hostile stalemate. My mother always told me to start out as I mean to go on. I didn't listen and now I am paying for it. Grrr.. I know if I could lose that weight I would feel better health wise. I would love a breast lift and a tummy tuck but I can't afford that. Heck I had a really great Dr but she quit her practice and went to work at the VA hospital. So now I have to start all over and find another good Dr.
I see nothing wrong with seeking a plastic surgeon. If you can afford it, it is your body and ultimately have to live in it! Good for you for taking charge of your life.
Good luck! xx

Hi Hope! So, last Wednesday, I went for a consultation for lipo of the breast and underarm area. I was not a good candidate...still too dense tissue in breast and most of my "fat" was just loose skin. I'm 55, post-meno, I think because I've always had a large bust that I've always felt fat/dowdy/matronly. They just seem so big! But now, since I can't get lipo and won't do a traditional breast reduction, I'm stuck with it. So, I've accepted it. I exercise 5 days a week and I eat pretty well. That's imperative to keeping weight off at this age. I just started on collagen 1&3 powder and am hoping that will help with a bit of weight loss/build muscle as well as improving my thin hair and nails. Nearly 2 months ago, I started on bio identicals. I just could not live with the hot flashes/night sweats and Sahara-dry vag for another minute. I had those symptoms for 2 and a half years along with zero libido. Well, I'm very happy to say that the vag is not only not dry anymore, I have my libido back AND enjoyed it (if you get my drift) all weekend! I honestly never thought I'd enjoy a man ever again! I feel like I have my life back!! I have not put on weight due to the bio identicals. Please look into them, that may be what you need. Also, unfortunately, we have to eat better and less, and work out more. That's just a fact. I find exercise helps my mind/mood tremendously as well. I would have aches and pains whether I exercise or not, so I'd rather ache from a workout than ache from just sitting around and getting old. I would save lipo as a very last resort. Too many risks. Even if my doctor had said I was a good candidate, I doubt I'd have gone through with it. We should absolutely focus on our looks as well as our well being...live our best lives! Best of luck and warm hugs to you!! -Kazjo

Have you tried a personal trainer. The reason you gain weight during peri is your metabolism slows down . Best way to increase is Exercise like swimming or running etc . I personally found a personal trainer great really help me lose weight and feel better. Also i been told drinking calories is not as good as eating them, as you lose a lot of the fiber . so maybe try eating more fruit and vegetables rather than smoothies. Also are you getting enough protein? should get at least 80g day if doing exercise at least 2 twice a week. Also liposuction only lasts if you maintain a healthy weight, so if want it i get to healther weight first.
