What is the longest number of days, weeks, months any of you have had ongoing heavy bleeding and clots without ceasing and caused by just hormones

Last year at this time I was having irregular heavy periods. Heavy clotting (scary clots) and super long. Last summer I bled for 40 days and finally went to see my OB. She recommended an ablation and so on the Wednesday before Thanksdiving 2017 I had it done. I haven't had a period since and I wish I would have done that sooner. I'm 54 soon to be 55 and after checking my hormones she said I wasn't even close to menopause. Now I'm just trying to dial in the hormones.
