Hey ladies! Has anybody experienced weight loss during perimenopause, I have been loosing weight. As soon as I wake up in the morning I feel the urge to go. This only happens in the mornings though, my stools are soft, but no diarrhea. Help! Could this be hormonal?

Yes, I lost about 12 pounds. Of course when I went in for my physical my doctor was soooo happy. I didn't tell her I lost the weight because food doesn't really taste good anymore, and on the weekends I usually only eat one meal a day. Some days my stools are also soft in the morning, but right now I'm a bit stressed out about selling my house, retiring, and replacing a 15 year old car, and my job is getting more stressful, because of new Supervisors.
So for me I think it's a combination of stress and hormones. I'm postmenopausal by the way.

Hi Maria! what I did was supplement with the ensure type shakes...just keep the calories coming in. Also, write down what you are eating and add up the calories. I thought I was eating a lot, but I added it up...not so much! It is scary when you are small and start dropping weight unintentionally. I was 115-120 then went down to 100. I’m around 108 now. It takes awhile to put weight on...just go slow and steady! 😊

Hi Maria, I have experienced what your going through. I lost 40lbs in the last year and for a year I was up every morning running to the bathroom. At the time I went to see my doctor but once again, all tests came back normal. I would spend about an hour in the bathroom each morning, it is now much better, thank god. I lived on Amodian AD and that did help most times. I'm in the Peri stages, about 7 to 8 years into it now. Praying for the day when menopause ends! Woot Woot

Thank you for your reply.
Did it start all of a sudden for you, or it gradually escalated, the trips to the toilet?😥

Hi Maria,
When I started Peri 6 years ago I lost 20 pounds in 2 months, my anxiety was so high I think that is why I lost it so quickly. I also find if I get upset about something, worry or my unexplained anxiety attacks creep up I get the poops, so that may be your problem. I don't feel like eating that much when I feel anxious either. I've had blood tests and was checked, I guess I'm in good physical health.
That all started when I was 40, now I'm 46, I still get anxious at times but do have calm times, I notice that's when I'm in the mood for good old comfort food and I don't hesitate to eat it on those days as I know I will have days where food is just food and could take it or leave it. I've gained 5 of the pounds back, I'm not a big woman either but I'm fairly tall, I'm good with my weight now but don't want to go any lower.
Do your best not to over think it or worry about it (easier said than done) but worrying just makes you get the poops.

My stools are soft and I have diarreah sometimes and constipation only before my period starts
My IBS symptoms and digestive issues are all hormone related
Sometimes after bathroom, it's crampy and leaves me with a backache at my waistline and achiness (sorry for this) down the sides of my butt and outer thigh muscles.
