LS and accidity/alkaline

I'm not a scientist.  Perhaps there are others among us who know more in this regard.  My thought is:  What happens when we age, other than hormonal change?  Does our body become more accidic perhaps?  Could that be the underlaying cause for some forms of LS?  In other words - could a chemical imbalance result in LS?

I'm fine and still recovering.  Every day a little better.  Yesterday I went for a short walk.  Hopefully the sitting will improve soon as well.

this is great news hanny! so glad about your improvement and soon to be sitting too.    xx

so glad you're improving and rest is important to that. By contrast...the sitting around thing may be something that those of us with this condition have in common. Are we also - or were we - prone to haemorrhoids? Another sitting around condtion...leading to blood pooling and chinese type 'stagnation'. something to be aware of. Definitely one of my, many, weaknesses. So sit but don't sit. be able to sit but stay on your toes...seems to be the message. That I for one certainly need !! xxxxxxxxx

anyway are you still ok? loved the bicarb info. are you still having success with that?

Every day a little better.  Do I sound like a record?  I have made a new cushion to cart around.  I can now drive my car again and yesterday attended a memorial service even.  Left before the food was served though.  Made a mistake in food intake at home.  Dumb!  Red spots under the arms as a 'reward'.  LS people have to constantly be alert, and sometimes a person just isn't.

So .... have to watch food, liquid and continue baking soda and coconut oil. It's a long way to recovery and some kind of control.  Mistakes are punished immediately.  Marching on ....

you don't sound like a record you sound like a ...oh brain fog....those arrow fighting women who used to cut off one breast for their skill.

      amazon?

LS is enough already, would like to keep my breasts if at all possible. (sinister ha)

I think those fighting women from yester yore were called amazons.

      Anyone know for sure?

Question for you about the baking soda rinse. I have started doing that today and I am wondering if you let it air dry? Or do you spray it on then wipe it off again? I have been going the route of air dry so far, but then I am not working today. Tomorrow I work and therefore will not have the luxury of a whole lot of time in the bathroom so air drying may be a rushed thing. Any suggestions there?

Oh Hanny do not stress about the foods you eat when out. Enjoy the event. Costco has a Good reputation here in the UK, so I am sure it is fine in other parts of the world.

if you eat before you go out then you can say no without stressing, but truly just  eat what you want within reason. There is little said in the medical world about diet playing a large part in LS. Of course eat sensibly according to your bodies response, but I hate the thought that you are too worried to eat normal food. Life is too important, we re here just the once  Do what you can to enjoy every moment. Take care and  have fun

      Hi Sue,

There are clear reasons why I stress over food - experience.  I can enjoy the event just the same, however - I have no choice then to stay away from hot spices, due to Lichen Planus in my mouth; stay away from alcohol and drink herb tea, due to Adrenal Glands and Thyroid.  Same with caffeine and gluten.  And now also Soya.  And not to forget the sugar.  LS certainly doesn't like it.

Two days ago I made a mistake, shortly after came swelling underneath my arms.  It is still not gone.  In other words, it is not worth it to ignore these food sensitivities.  I prefer to be careful and live better afterward.  "The tongue is only a few inches long", said one of my friends at one time.  She so right.

I enjoy life minus certain foods.  And then life is great.

I hear ya Hanny. I also suffer from irritable bowel syndrome so there are certain foods I have to stay away from, especially when eating away from home.

As for sugar, I have a sweet tooth and I drink at least one can of Coke a day, sometimes two. It's how I get my caffine since I don't drink coffee.  I have however cut way back on my intake of sugar over the years so I am not nearly as  bad as I used to be. But I will never cut out sugar all together. I over did it with the Halloween candy this year and I definitely noticed a difference. But as Sue says, "we're here just the once." so I indulge my sweet tooth still.  It's a fine line to walk really.

We make choices, I think.  Sometimes learning the hard way.  But learning nevertheless.  My life is good when I don't add extra suffering just because of the things I eat.  For me it's not worth it.  I'm so much better off when I 'behave'.  Life is 'sunnier' when I don't have to suffer afterwards.
