Hi I was told by the doctor , just after Christmas that I have fibro. The pain is manly in my arms. This last week it as been in my feet, toes, back and
Fingers. I take amitriptaline for the pain and to help me sleep. It worked at first 10mg but I need to take 30mg for them to work.
Is there anyone can help with any advice.
Take care Mace

Hi Mace
It may be that a different drug will work better for you. Doctors usually try good old amitriptyline first. 10mg working up. I couldn't take it because it gave me palpitations and vivid nightmares. There is always gabapentin amongst others to try. Speak to your GP and/or rheumatologist to see if they can suggest something to help. I know it takes a while to get into the system an settle. I am presently exploring hypnotherapy to help me. Good luck No doubt someone with more experience will be along soon to reply. Take care.

Only newly diagnosed myself so I don't have any sound advice as yet...only to share I am similar to yourself.
I fell ill in Jan, December I had problems with my shoulder by February the pain and what they thought to be tendonitis moved to my wrists then elbows and various other places. Only March was it thought to be Fibro and I was put on Amitriptiline 20mg too to help aid my sleep pattern...it could well be increased if necessary but up to now 20mg. Come to think of it I had a bit of pain in my lower back earlier in year too. I get the impression it moves about?? All the very best and hope you find the answers you are looking for x

I take 50mg Amitripylene, not the highest dose by far! It works for a certain extent for sleep, not so much for pain. It does keep me asleep in the morning, so great if you don't have to get up early! There are some side effects I am concerned about, so will be seeing my Doc soon. I think lifestyle changes and things such as pacing and relaxation are the way to go.
Take care, Annne
