made it thru 1st week on Mirt!!!!

I feel pretty good , but I had to buy OTC sleeping aid  otherwise I dont think I would feel this good. The Mirt* must be helping because I dont feel any anxiety these last few days , or bouts of panic/rage (anger) .

My concern now is , after reading other peoples experiences with the dosage increase, I wonder why does the doctors want to increase?... I am supposed to increase tomorrow to 30mg , but why bother if 15 is good?... and some of you are going up to 45mg and feeling worse, some feel better. Its very concerning to me, but I know we all will react differently as we all have our own reasons for taking Mirt* in the first place, well I just wonder when I go up to 30mg , can I stay there?..lol.. I dont want to mess up a good thing, and right now I know Im only in early stages, but man.... the whole increase thing...thats scary . I wish it just worked the same for us all and we would all feel well!!!

Check with your doctor. I see no reason for an increase, unless it stops working. No sense putting more into your body if you don't need it.

I totally agree , but it is the first week only , I am planning to go see her again tomorrow to ask and find out what and why. I have alot of anxiety issues and insomnia, I also think I suffer with mild depression. but I really feel better just this weekend alone! and its only been a week on Mirt* so its good that I am going to see her and ask her more questions . Or Im thinking to just stay at 15mg for another week, and that will make 2 full weeks on it, it does take a while b4 it is in your system and you feel full results. right now its like a honeymoon phase with Mirt* basically

Hi Vixxxen222, the best thing you can do is discuss your concern with your GP.           But I'm like you if 15mg works for you why on earth do they want to increase it.           ( if it's not broke don't fix it so to speak ).  If he can give you a reasonable answer put a post on and let us all know, because I for one can't understand it. Take Care

I have trouble sleeping.  What is an OYC sleeping aid?  Is it a tablet and if so, can you get it in Britain.

If you can manage on 15 mg, don't increase it.  There's no reason.  I'm on 45 mg and sleep but have constant palpitations during the day and last week was also put on Sertraline to try to lift my mood.  I wouldn't increase it.

Nessie OTC means over the counter. So u can buy it on the shelves ! smile I thought Mirt* would help me sleep but it does not so I went to the pharmacy and Vought the sleeping aid called "SleepMD" . u take it an hour or so before bed. And it definately helps me! I prefer OTC sleeping aid rather than another prescription from the doctor. I hope this helps u

It is very early days for the mirtazapine treatment, these drugs do usually take a few weeks to start working. So I'd hate to pour cold water on your present better state, but you might find you get worse again, you need to be prepared for that possibility. Take the doctor's advice about increasing the dose or not. Everyone has ups and downs, recovery on antidepressants like mirtazapine is never smooth, in my experience, it comes and goes. I've been on 30mg mirtazapine plus 225mg venlafaxine for more than 6 years and it's made me well. I did have CBT therapy too which helped.

    Hi vixxxxen 222

im just nearing two weeks on Mirt,... 15mg..

this I believe is the most efficient dose for sleeping.. Well

Not sure I want to go up a dose.. As the side effects from this dose are

for me unpleasant ,my taste has all but gone, and my tongue feels sore all the

time.. Not sure if it's Mirt or something else..

I also still wake around 2-3,am, then take a Diazapam to get back to sleep and have

    awful nightmares..

I'm not due to see my GP until the 28 th Jan, but I will be asking for something less sedative.. As I'm hopeless during the day..

best to see how you do on the low dose.. Then talk with you're GP again, it's early days yet wink

Hi Rosemary, I agree it feels so hopeless when you cant sleep and then you take something in the middle of the night to help you get back to sleep, you feel the effects all day eh..?

I am taking Mirt* for anxiety, Insomnia and depression...so after one week at 15mg I am starting today on 30mg.  15 is usually what they start you on and keep you on if your simply trying to get to sleep on it, but when your trying to deal with the anxiety and depression as well, then thats why they put the dose up, and maybe even up again for it to work more on balancing the brain chemistry.

    Hi

i was interested In these sleeping tablets and asked at the local chemist, but he'd never heard of them.  Do you buy hem n a chemist or does it have to be a herbal shop and is that the correct name? - Sleep MD?  He had the usual Calms and other antihistamine herbal remedies but had never heard of this one.  Can you get it in Britain by mail order?

    best wishes

    Nessie

I just did a quick internet search for SleepMD and the only UKsupplier iI could find was Amazon but they said it was "unavailable" and they didn't know when it would be available. They are described as a herbal remedy, containing melatonin which is reputed to aid sleep but the source I looked as was doubtful. Hope that helps a bit.

Hi Ladies!!!  The SleepMD is on the shelf in almost all of our canadian drug stores , sad to hear that you can not buy it there sad They work really well and are a very natural sleep aid approved by my doctor, I was worried about becoming dependent on them to sleep but she assured me not to worry.. I wonder why Amazon would run out of its supply, just strange.

I wonder also if there is something similar tho that you can buy.....what would you have there that you could buy and use safely,...?...anything? or do you have to see a doc for a prescription ?
