Does anyone relate?
I had meniscus surgery December 2016. Since then, it has been on again off again pain. For instance, yesterday I had sharp pains on the medial side of my knee. Today, I have no pain at all. I have no idea what tomorrow will bring. Is this inflammation on a nerve?

Hi Audrey
?I tore my meniscus in November 2014. I could hardly walk for the next 2 months and scheduled anthroscopy repair for February 2015. One week before the operation I was fine I could walk even fast, climb stairs etc and wasn't sure whether to go ahead with the op. The surgeon said it was only temporary and could stick again at any time. Its like a letterbox flap with stuff getting stuck in it now and again. I had the surgery on 17th February 2015 and to be honest never got over it. Things did not go back to normal no matter what exercise I did. Over two years later June 2017 I finally had a partial knee replacement. It was horrendous but owe after four months I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The pain is far less than before the operation (both operations in fact) I have a long way to go to build up my muscle again as it is cut through. But I can now walk pain free in that knee. (My other knee has now gone the same way so is far more painful ugh!!)
?Your question is this pain on the nerve is hard to answer. I just know that what you are experiencing is a mirror of mine. Some days excellent (I could swim 100 lengths!) other days one length was excruciating. I think its just the way it goes and depends on whether you have arthritis or not.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I’m glad that things are turning around for you. In the past, I’ve had 4 back surgeries. The third was a spinal fusion from L2 down to the sacrum. That was about 30 years ago. Recovery over and over and over again. I am so sick of it. Last year, I tore my meniscus mowing. The mower got caught on a stone and I kept trying to get it off. I twisted and my knee went with the twist. So I had the surgery because the pain was excruciating. I am a runner (of sorts). Let’s just say I love to run. Slow but steady. I’m just so frustrated because every time I get back to it, it’s yet another set back. Even when I don’t run, the pain just comes out of know where. The last thing I want is another major surgery. On Friday I’m seeing a sports medicine doctor who is a runner. I’m praying that there is something he can do for me. Please keep me posted on your recovery. I hope it goes quickly and you’re back to yourself.
