Hi

Can anyone advise me please

I am post menopause, still getting hot flushes etc,

I also have IBS, so my diet is bad, I have seen nhs dietitian and was put on fodmap diet, but as I am a vegetarian she did not help very much, as she had no information for vegetarians.

What I am looking for is a book or website that can

Help me with diet and excercise plan suitable for me.

Any help will be appreciated

Many thanks

Junie

I have a good diet and exercise programme. Tried all the vitamins and supplements. Stopped eating certain foods and nothing helps me

A little confused here. I was responding to your flushes question not IBS question. Take Lindas advice and try another area for advice or support for IBS. Good luck

Last night I had an indian curry, glass of wine , a port and the complementary chocolate and had the best sleep since stopping HRT 9 months ago. I too, am vegetarian.

Cut out white bread and pasta.

    Potato and white rice.

    Cakes.

    Sweet stuff.

    Eat more veg and beans.

Being vegetarian doesn't mean you have a healthy diet.

Hi, Junie, sorry to learn you're going through this.  Do you have IBS with diarreha or IBS with constipation? Those require different approaches.  If you have IBS-D, you might want to look into whether you have excess bile.  If you do, you will have yellow liquid in your stools. This could mean that your gallbladder is producing excess bile, or that you have Bile Acid Malabsorption, where your body lacks a hormone that assists in in reabsorbing the bile. There is a bile acid malabsorption group on this site.  There is a book on line about dealing with a malfuctioning gallbladder, that might offer you some help.

Or, you might be gluten intollerant.  Did you have a test for that? xx

Yes I had lots of tests,

When I eat I have to use the bathroom usually within half an hour, my doctor says it is a fast transit, I also have rib pain which doctor says is costochondritis, I have hot flushes in the evening,

Just trying to cope as best I can,

But I need to eat healthy, I am not at the moment.

      Thanks for your help

    Hi

First of all when you are going through a bad bout of ibs nothing will really help apart from avoiding alcohol chocolate oats gassy foods etc drink peppermint tea and camomile tea and suck on peppermints and fresh mint tea with ginger is good

I know as I have same symptoms post menopause I just had 32 bad days and now I am on day 7 goods days which can last for a month or three months then it starts again it's hormonal not dietary

    Cheers
