Menstrual cycle altered - is this normal with cysts?

Posted , 3 users are following.

My periods have always been heavy  but the last 3 light for me.  I have 2 largeish cysts and waiting to have them removed.  Also waiting to have another ultrasound.  Since they were discovered my cycle seems to be altered.  the last one was about 3 weeks after the previous one and now it is only 2 weeks and 3 days since my last one.  Should I go back to my GP again? should I be concerned?

Also I feel like I have an extra roll of fat (like you see on chubby babies) just under my right ribs, and  this has developed over the last few days - could my cyst have grown / or pushed something else out of place?

Anyone had any similar experiences please?

    Hi dizzylizzie

I have a few cysts also and the change in my peridos has been one of the most alarming things for me as mine were literally every 28 days without fail (had always been terribly heavy though). Ive read on here that many ladies experience changes in periods due to cysts. Mine range from 2 weeks to 4 and a half weeks now!

Thanks for replying so quickly awaywiththefairies, this really worried me.  Do you know if they settle down again ? Once a month is bad enough twice is ......not sure... upsetting, irritating,

Im awaiting removal of cysts too dizzy so can only hope, depending on which procedures we have that things return to a more normal pattern.

Often happens and did to me too as it did for both of you. The roll of fat you feel or bloating also appears common. Did't realise till mine was removed that it was the cyst, thought had got fat smile.
