Mild pinching pain in upper abdomen pain that come and goes with similar chest pains.

Hello,

I'm 19 years old (soon 20 in a month). So the past 6-7 months have been complete hell for me. It all started with pressure in chest and high blood pressure. I went through serveral blood works and heart echography, 24hr holter and liver test. Nothing was found. In fact, still to this day, doctors can't explain my high blood pressure because there is no family history and they can't find an underlying issue.

Anyways, all those tests were back in august. Then september and october passed and I was feeling much better. However, at the end of october, I started feeling chest pains again and occasional pains with deep breaths. I went to ER again and they conducted new tests for Lupus and other immune disorders and nothing was found. November went by and my symptoms got worst and worst so I went back to ER again and, once again, they found nothing. I even had an ultrasound of my thyroid and it worked perfectly fine.

And now, for the past few weeks, I've been having those abdominal pains that feel like something is pinching me inside. The pain usually lasts a few seconds and goes away and comes back without any consistency. It can be to the left or to the right just like my chest pains. There's no real pattern to the pain, similarly to my chest pains. In fact, my chest pains are similar to my abdominal pains where they lasts usually for a few seconds and feel like something is pinching me and then goes away.

I saw countless of doctors and specialists over the past 6 months and none of them seem to be able to find the reason why I have those pains. I was recently diagnosed with a very low calcium and vitamin D levels. However, my internist told me that they don't usually cause such pains.

Of course, I'm getting more and more worried that it might be cancer as that's pretty much the only thing that is left in terms of a reason and because it seems the pain is spreading. (First started in my chest and is now in my upper abdomen too).

I  would really appreciate if anyone maybe lived through something similar or if anyone could give me an idea of what it could be. Thanks!

Ben don't give up keep searching for what is causing your symptoms until you have some relief.

many times things get over looked and tests don't always show everything. Your symptoms may be anxiety?

      Thank you Hope!

Yes, I really want to believe it's anxiety. However, the pains happen in very random moments and even when I'm not even anxious.

    Hi ben75783

Do you have any other symptoms apart from the pain??

I sometimes have dizzyness and have a hard time catching my breath. But that doesn't happen as frequently as the other symptoms. And they just come randomly without necesseraly exertion.

      Hi ben75783

Do you smoke? are you overweight?..do you exercise on a regular basis?.. have you had your adrenals and thyroid checked?..... if they are malfunctioning overactive thyroid can cause high blood pressure....and adrenals can cause pain....if you have not had these checked ask doc to do thyroid function and adrenal blood test...best wishes....

      Hi,

I don't smoke and I'm only 145lbs (5 foot 10). I had a thyroid ultrasound which came back fine a few weeks ago and I believe my nephrologist tested my adrenals while he was testing my kidneys with a few 24hr urine tests and blood tests. Also, I had an abdomen MRI in september of last year which came back fine.

      Hi ben 75783

Do you suffer from fatigue and lethargy along with dizziness and pain?

      Hi lilian,

I haven't noticed any fatigue or lethargy. And I'd like to point out that my weight has been pretty constant in all of this which is about the only reassuring thing at this point for me.

      Hi ben75783

Have you had your B12 checked...if the levels are low it can cause abdo pain dizziness and breathlessness..if you have not had a B12 blood test ask doc to have one carried out.....i really do hope you can get to the bottom of the problem....nothing worse than knowing something is not right with your body...yet no medical professional can find out the cause...extremely frustrating!!!....sad

      Hi lilian,

Thank you so much for your help! I will mention this next time I see my doctor. And you're right, there really is nothing worse sad. It's like everyday I try to tell myself that it's probably nothing too bad but everytime I get the symptoms or that I know that it could still be anything really pains me. It's a constant fear that it could be something bad that really hurts me.

      Hi ben75783

What does your diet consist of...give a typical weeks food, drinks, vits, meds....

      Hi lilian,

I currently take amelodipin as BP medication and pantoloc for my acid reflux. I also currently take 1 50 000 vitamin D supplement a week and calcium supplements. I very rarely drink alcool. I drink mostly water and milk. I use to have a bad diet (lots of fast foods). However, ever since last year I've been more careful and I eat mostly home made pasta, fruits and vegetables with the occasional meat.

      Hi ben75783

You are not eating foods that contain B12 you say some milk but mostly veggies and fruit and some meats.....B12 is contained in eggs, yogurt, some fish and legumes and all meats and dairy.....

Another question I want to ask is have you had your lungs investigated because some problems with the lungs can also cause shortness of breath and that pinch like pain you describe......when you see your doc ask about a B12 blood test also to have your lungs investigated.....

These are just a few more probabilities that may be the cause of your problem.....best wishes Ben...keep us posted.....

      Hi Lilian,

I did get a few chest x-rays which included the lungs while I was at ER and everything looked fine. I will try to get testes for the vitamin B-12.

      Thank you!

      Hi ben75783

Just a bit more info you can take with you to your docs......low B12 levels can incur elevated homocysteine which in turn incurs high blood pressure..it is reduced by adequate levels of vit B12 and B6.....hope this will help when you see your doc....this may be a probability that may be causing your high blood pressure.....best wishes keep us updated......

      Hey lilian,

Thank you for you suggestions. I had blood tests to do today for my appointment this thursday with my doctor and I noticed he was already testing me for B12 alongside a bunch of other things! So hopefully I'll get a clear answer this thursday! smile

      Hi lilian,

So today I saw my doctors. Unfortunately, everything was normal. My B12 levels were perfect he said. Also, my calcium was back to normal. Which is all good news... However, it means were even further of knowing what causes all those pains since my pains are just getting worst and not better. I'm a bit discouraged, I'm now only seeing him in 4months. He told me to do a chest CT with liquid for the aortas. However, the wait time is pretty terrible for those scans.

      Hi ben75783

Glad to hear your B12 levels were normal.

If the pains get more severe then don't hesitate to go back to your doc......or to A & E... don't put up with it and make yourself anxious......4 months is a long time to wait but it will soon pass......keep yourself busy......but as mentioned if pain is worrisome don't put up with it .......best wishes Ben.....keep us updated......:-)

B12 is not only found in animal products.

Also, consuming dairy of you have reflux already, is a bad idea.

      Hi nattynoggin

Some people on the forum who suffer with reflux find that warm milk helps....natural yogurt with cultures helps me..we are all different aren't we? and our bodies tolerate various foods better than others can tolerate them...best wishes...

Your experiencing anxiety with panic attacks I lived 8 years with those symptoms also diarrhea going to the bathroom up to 15 times in a day I never knew I had anxiety until I actually started taking meds for it. I'm not a Dr but I've seen plenty of them and I've done a lot of research. Good luck
