took this drug for 3 months from 15mg to 45mg awful, only time it helped was a hr after taking it. made me calm an sleep. but I awoke every morning with awful anxiety. wasted 3 months of my life! boo off work for nearly 5 months now as I had battle with psychiatrist to let me go back on my original ones of dosulepin which I had been on for over 20 yrs, but I went to see private psychiatrist an he started me on mirt, biggest mistake. I tapered from 45mg to 30mg over a week then 15mg for week they put me on lofepramine (which I tried for 6 weeks, and never worked) which is on same tricyclic group of old ones as they still didn't want to give me them back. took me going into 2nd crisis to get a psychiatrist that listened to me and prescribed it again so on day 11 an slowly I think they starting to help, my anxiety is worse in morning so hoping it will lift soon. I also have added eating problem from a choking incident that triggered it all off, so also lost 4 st since may, and high anxiety gives me no appetite but I am trying it's slow process. good luck. x

If you're thinking of coming off the Mirtazepine, I certainly don't blame you.
I was on it only for about 8-9 months and started at 15 mgs. I gained nearly 20 US pounds(1.5 stones) and it made me very groggy and chronically fatigued, to the point I was not able to function throughout the day. I told my Dr. I wanted to come off of it so he said to just go down to 7.5 mgs for a week, then stop. But NO way did I taper that fast, as I know my body and its response to tapering off of psych meds. So I literally shaved off pieces a week to 10 days at a time to where I literally was at 1.87 ish mgs for 2 weeks, then I stopped. It was pain to do it that way, but so glad I did, as now I am feeling better and now function in life.

hi, Rachel
Thank you for posting. This forum has scared me to death. I have only been on this drug for 3 weeks, and I want to stop. I am hoping it has not got its grips on me yet, never took one last night, I have been prescribed 30mg, but never slept without taking 3.75 mg zopiclone. Been weepy today, but got through. trying a meditation app tonight to relax

HI Chezza... You're welcome 😃 I think 3 weeks in, you should be able to slowly taper off and be ok BUT I am not a Dr. , so I would definitely talk to him/her about coming off of it so they know what you're doing and see how you're adjusting to lower milligrams each time you taper down.
Sorry to hear that you're having a weepy day. I hope the meditation app can help you. Maybe watch your favorite funny movie to distract you.
Are you a Bible reader by chance? If so, I have a great Bible talk that might encourage you and I can send you the link. 😃

I actually felt ok. I was still able to sleep ok and I Now wake up feeling not as fatigued & brain-fogged as I used to, but I also suffer from Chronic Fatigue, Chronic Pain, & possibly Fibromyalgia, so those things make my body feel wiped out at times.
I can't yet say I've lost any of the weight I gained, but it's only been about a week since I've stopped Mirt.

I hope you can find the best way to get off this drug as well, especially if it's really weighing you down with no motivation. That's what happened to me too. Just keep in mind, lower dosages of Mirt tend to make you feel more sedated. At least for me it did. But once I got down to 3.25 mgs, that seemed to get better. Then I cut that in half, which is roughly 1.75 mgs, did that for 2 weeks, then stopped. I don't feel as fatigued and brain foggy as before so hopefully everything will stay ok going forward.
Hopefully you can find a better job. As for the Sertraline, I don't know much about. I tried for a few days and it didnt jive with my body.

Hi Rachel
thank you for support. took 15 mg mirtz last night and listened to hypnosis tape to help sleep, which did for a while, but woke up by terrible nightmare. Not taking any mirtz tonight, need to try just tape tonight.
Do believe in bible, but need to do this for myself. Hope you have good night .
