Yes that's the way it worked for me, then my eyes started acting up so now I'm weaning off of it

Sorry Jean my experience on 45mg of mirt for 6 years was excellent mood and sleep only draw back was the weight gain.

    Everyone reacts differently to AD

I think if you have been on them since November its time to go back and speak to your doctor about a change.

Mirt stopped working for me 4 months ago I had to taper off and onto sertraline, they are useless for me as a big part of my depression is insomnia they dont have a sedatine.

Remember that depression can be like that, up one day and down the rest, and recovery can be equally bumpy. But perhaps you need to talk to your doctor about how you feel. Perhaps you need the dosage adjusting, or something else adding. I take mirtazapine and venlafaxine and that works well for me, but everyone reacts differently.

Pixie, what mg of Mirtazapine are you on and how long have you been taking it?

I've been on 30mg mirtazapine with 225mg venlafaxine for about 7 years. I did try reducing the mirtazapine slightly, but the WD symptoms made me go back to the 30mg again and I haven't tried again. I have had some success reducing the venlafaxine a little.

There is a girl that's been on it in this group and she has a titration schedule that she did that helped her a lot. I can't remember her name.

    Hi Jean,

I was only on it for a week and have just come off it. After waking up from taking my firts tablet I was in a complete haze all day, second morning I felt like ending it all. Third day just felt fuzzy all day which went on for the rest of the week inbetween burting into tears and feeling really sad.

Its probably different for everybody as some people are more sensetive to the drugs.

I'm going to try and stay off things like that if I can and maybe go herbal and go for St John Wort or L-Tryptophan.

Wish you all the best with whatever you choose to do.

    Hi Jean

You are not alone! I seem to be fine for a few days then bam! I go down and reach for diazepam to crawl through the day. When my dose is altered I feel extremely suicidal (Although I know I wouldn't act on those feelings) as you have been on mirt since November, I honestly think you should go back to your doc for a review. I am due to come of mirt after a rocky time with it and go on something different. I wouldn't leave your situation undressed as you need to get yourself on the right track to a speedier recovery.

    Really wish you well ♥

    God bless xx

Thank you everyone for your replies and support. I wouldn't act on the suicidal thoughts either as I have 2 beautiful children, but I just don't want to be here anymore and trying to cope with this crippling anxiety. I am hopefully going to a psychiatrist today but I'm terrified of more medications and the side effects sad

      Hi Jean,

I know exactly how you are feeling. I had terrible anxiety and panic attacks for abt 6 weeks. I done CBT and went to a stress management course, which I got through Talking Therapies' - it's a free service here in the South East of England, not sure if they do it all over UK? Check online. CBT has worked for me before. I felt exactly the same as you. I did not want to wake up because i was in such mental torture. You will get better. It takes time for the meds to kick in. Good luck. X

I used to post with Evergreen when I was taking Mirtazapine.  I still take 15 mg but the higher doses were hell!  But Evergreen swore by it.
