Mirtazapine - tapering and withdrawals

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi

i have been following A tapering plan whereby I drop down a dose one or two days per week over about 3-4 weeks, depending  on how I have felt. I have done really well, and not really had any side effects whilst doing this, other than some disturbed sleep, but managed.

Well I got a bit over confident and dropped my last drop over two weeks, and the past two weeks I started getting nervousness, slight loss of appetite, and disturbed/difficult sleep, but this past week I've had anxiety, nausea, and very disturbed sleep!

I have stopped dropping, and remained at 0.1.5ml ( I'm using the liquid version), how long will it take to stabilise and when people say stabilise do they mean you get to a point where you can handle the symptoms, or the symptoms subside?

id appreciate any advice?

BTW I taking Noni Juice, Omega 3, Vitamin B complex and a good Multi Vit too.

many thanks

jo x

By "stabalise" is probably ment that you get to the point where you can handle the symptoms. I would stay on the 1.5 cc for maybe a month before dropping the dose again. Dealing with your stressors and maybe some psychotherapy might also help.

Hi thank you for your reply.

I have been been doing very well and managed tapering without virtually any side effects, so this has come as a surprise.

      Hi Nicki

i understand what you are saying, but my support network, ie my mum for when my husband is at work is away in Sept for 10 days so I'd rather hold off until then if I can. She's a brilliantly supportive and positive woman and helps me enormously in encouraging my withdrawal. X

Well done for coming off it.  Did you quit at 30mg then? How long had you been on it? Thanks for your reply. X

Hi there, can anyone help? Been on mirt for 17 months, I was on 30 mg but dropped down to 15 3weeks ago, feeling awful, nausea, headache upset stomach but to name a few things, this has been going on for about the last week getting worse by the day, was hoping to drop own by half again but today I have this awful feeling of doom and gloom, can someone tell me if this is normal and when to reduce the dose down. I have read through people's experiences and have to say I feel it most helpful. Yesterday I spoke to my doc about coming off this awful drug, all she could say was that I need to increase the dose, why is it that they 'll sing from the same hymn book, I need  her help to one off not pump more of this poison into my body. I am at such a low ebb, does this awfulness ever go away, please help!!
