I recently have been prescribed cit 10mg and I’m on day 2 today, I’m eager for them to kick in as my anxiety and depression has been the worst ever! I think iv actually had a mini break down, iv been experiencing lack of energy, loss of appetite, no motivation to do anything and general anxiety all day long! I have 3 children to look after and life is a struggle at the moment!

I too take citalopram and have been through everything you have described, but it does get better. I’m not cured but have improved a lot since I started these tablets. I don’t know your experience with citalopram, but at the beginning your anxiety can feel worse before it gets better whilst your body adjusts to the medication. Don’t give up though, hang in there! The first two weeks were the hardest for me. Not saying that after that things were perfect, but some of the effects started to calm down.
With regards to your children, take as much help from family and friends if possible that is available. Don’t feel guilty if you can’t do certain things, i.e. take them out to places, you won’t feel like this forever and will eventually get better. Try and eat healthily, even if it’s small amounts, stay hydrated, get fresh air, and keep talking x

Hi star1711
Thanks for your reply, I’m getting so much support from friends, family & strangers it’s so reassuring that I’m not the only one suffering! I have been bottling up my depression/anxiety for so long and it finally come to head last week! It feels like it’s been a week from hell, I have felt so bad for my children but thank the lord my parents have been amazing when iv just needed to stay in bed all day and just rest!
I’m feeling quite positive that cit is going to be good for me as a mix of medication & therapy is paramount at the moment.
No harsh side effects so far but I’m just at the end of day 2!
Glad to hear it’s having a positive effect for you.

I have been on Citolapram for over a year now. It took my several weeks with increases from 10mg to 30mgs. I am feeling like my normal self again. I have not have had an anxiety attack or felt depressed since the beginning of taking the meds. Again, it did take several weeks with weight changes and all, but again, back to normal. Keep up with it and you will be fine.

Thank you for your reply, it’s so reassuring to know that cit is working wonders for people and making them feel like their ‘normal’ self again, that is my aim! I’m definitely going to keep up with as I don’t want to go back to the dark place I was in only a few days ago!
Thanks again for your reply and reassurance.

Hi Emma I found the first 2 weeks the toughest. I'm on 20mg for anxiety and depression and wanted to quit after 4 days. I found it hard sleeping at first and had heightened anxiety. I decided to stick with and I'm so glad I did. The side affects have eased off and now I feel more chilled and generally feel a bit better. I still have off days now and again but I seem to be able to cope better. I know how hard it is at first but stick with it because it does get better. Hope you feel better soon. I'm sure you will. X

Hang in there sweetie, I know it's hard. If you believe in God pray and pray hard. He will help you. I changed to trazadone, doc thought it would be better as I wasn't sleeping. My anxiety is bad as well. Stay strong honey, I'm praying for you

Thank you so much for your words of support and reassurance! I’m going to give cit a chance as iv heard quite positive things about it and my goal is to just feel ‘normal’ again and be the best mum I can be to my 3 children.
Xx
