Hi All Greetings,

Still on my path to get my bilateral cataracts corrected.

I have the following thought, seeking different views and opinions / suggestions.

My dominant eye, right eye, - to have first cataract surgery on this eye. To use AcrySofIQ Aspherical Toric monofocal iols set for distance, at - 0.25D post surgery.

My non dominant eye, left eye, - to be done as second cataract surgery. To use Alcon Vivity, to set for near to intermediate.

Thank you all in advance.

Regards

I think your plan is good. Wait 6 weeks between surgeries to be sure what you got with the first eye and decide if any plan changes may be needed.

yes l am pity sure you can do that, lm getting vivity next week in one eye and my surgeon said if l am not happy with the vivity in my first eye l can go with a monofocal in the second eye

If it was me I am not sure I would get the Vivity set to near or intermediate done first.

If you are 100% sure you are going to go with a monofocal in your dominate, I would probably do that first and see what my results were. I would evaluate those results and then based on the weakness I would choose the 2nd IOL and best refractive mark to shoot for.

For example you might find with a monofocal you have functional vision down to 2 foot and just need the Vivity set to .-5D to reach your goal.

I suspect you were responding to @john20510 and not @hifly75872, as the OP was planning to do the dominant eye first with an AcrySof IQ toric monofocal set for distance. I agree that is the way to do it. Get your distance vision in the bag first, and then decide how much near vision you need in the non dominant eye. One may find that the monofocal gives enough close vision and an EDOF like the Vivity is not necessary for their needs. And if it is not, then it gives you a good idea whether the Vivity is enough, or if it needs to be under corrected some to get the desired close vision. It also leaves open the option to use another monofocal and simply target enough myopia to get good reading vision.
