Monalisa Touch Laser for Lichen Sclerosus

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried MonaLisa Touch for their Lichen Sclerosus? I'm thinking of trying it. I was also wondering if hard water could make this condition worse. I've read before that hard water which I have here in Florida, causes tears in skin and strips the skin of moisture. This condition seems to have started when I moved to Florida a few years ago.

I have not had the Mona L laser but several women on here have. Mixed results. I have read medical journal articles that say it produces good results and several that say it does not. Some say it is safe and some not. So, who to believe. One of my doctors said we could try it but without a compete explanation and documentation I would not recommend. Anytime you put strong light on vulnerable skin you risk damage. Sometimes light-induced damage can turn the wrong way. Before you agree to it, by all means search the heck out of it, talk to women who have had years earlier to see what their results and consequences/side effects were.
Now hard water usually means there are lots of minerals in the water. I lived in Tampa for 20 + years and never had a problem. The main thing associated with extra minerals is kidney stones. Have you had those? It is true that changing the mineral content of food or water can have long-term consequences for the body and everybody's body is different. If I was you I would get a good water filtration system (not Britta) maybe Berkey or something to filter out most of the minerals. Try it for a month. Drink only water from that. See what happens. Best. Biscuit

Moonie, are you concerned about drinking the water or bathing in it? I spend my winters in FL and find the water quality to be dreadful. I always drink filtered water but find it's pretty much impossible to remove the unpleasant taste. If you are concerned about bathing in it, I am as well, but I have not had good reports on whole system water filtration systems. You can try washing the specific area with filtered water using a cup or basin.
Do you use coconut oil or any type of moisturizer? I alternate between that and Yin oil. I began using Chinese herbal tea as prescribed by an acupuncturist a week and a half ago. Not sure there is any effect. (I had success with it years ago for fibroids). Warning: the taste is atrocious.
Re the Mona Lisa there are discussions on the Forum where women have mentioned good results and bad. My gyn was opposed due to menopausal skin being thin to begin with and said it was possible to cause further injury.
I have been especially interested in Platelet Rich Plasma injections but it is next to impossible to find much info on it re LS. As it involves using your own plasma I don't see much danger, but doctors seem very leery. It is mostly done in spas for orgasmic issues. It hasn't been properly studied as an LS treatment, and I am not aware of studies being conducted which is very unfortunate as there is nothing out there for us. I spoke to an MD who runs a spa who said to have PRP in conjunction with laser treatment was the only treatment she would recommend, it is not covered by insurance and is very costly. I spoke with another MD who said she would administer PRP only on severe LS cases yet used it for the orgasmic issue. That made NO sense to me. There is also a Dr in northern FL who was mentioned in previous posts. As we no longer get updates I don't know if the woman who was considering having it done followed thru with it.
Does your doctor have any theories as to what caused it? Are you pre or post menopausal? My gyn felt it was brought on by estrogen loss in my case. I have been using both estrogen cream and steroid ointment (alternating between medium strength and strong).
If you have any questions please PM me. This format has changed and we are not informed if anything is added to a discussion, unfortunately.
