Monofocal (no monovision) Near, intermediate or distance?

Please describe what you see for your non-target vision and how satisfied you are with your monofocal (no monovision). If you set your target near, what do you see for your intermediate and distance (e.g do you use progressives for computer and driving or 2 separate glasses?), if you set it distance do you use progressives for reading your phone and computer?) If you set it distance do most people need glasses for intermediate? Thank you

Repeating myself here from previous posts: with both eyes having a -2 IOL, but one having wound up at -2.5, I only use glasses (progressives) when I leave the house or am watching TV. For reading, computer use, and other activities at home I have no need for glasses at all.

I had minor astigmatism, -.75 and -.5, as I recall, so no torics. The surgeon did limbal relaxing incisions and now I have no astigmatism at all.

"If you set it distance do most people need glasses for intermediate?"

    .

I would say "no". Most will only need OTC reading glasses, or at least can get by with that. However, it is not unusual for the surgeon to miss by some on the distance, and not fully correct astigmatism, so it may be best to count on getting progressive glasses which will provide near, intermediate, and best corrected distance vision.

I have J&J Tecnis 1 monofocal. My RE ended up at -0.75 and my LE at -0.125. I can see everything clearly from 2 feet to distance. I can see my car dash with no problem and I can see my computer with no problem, although my eyes get tired faster so I usually wear my readers when on my computer. Depending on the size of print, I can read things if held at arms length, but it would just be for something quick as it is much easier with my reading glasses. I have set my font on my phone to large and can get by quickly reading a text, but to read anything else on my phone I would need my readers. This is all dependent on the light, I would not be able to read anything held at arms length without my readers if there wasn't much light. No 2 people are the same and you might not end up with the same vision as what someone else has. My husband has monofocals set for distance and where I can get by sometimes without my readers, he can't.

I didn't need toric lenses because my astigmatisms were minor. My doctor was targeting LE -0.10 and RE -0.55, but my astigmatisms increased by -0.25 in each eye so that put the target in my right eye off by -0.25. That is still well within the "error" range for cataract surgeries though, so I was very happy with the outcome and felt he was right on target.
