Hi all - Ive been taking 30mg of citralopram for about 5 weeks after upping from 20mg which Id been on for about 4 weeks. Whilst I feel Im improving I am still really struggling with anxiety and feelings of dread first thing on a morning and having days where i feel like Im back to square one. Is this normal? Has anyone also had any experience of switching to e-citralopram which the doctoe had mentioned. Thanks

I have this also, seems so much worse in the mornings then at night a few hours before I go to sleep so I did some reading on why it's worse in the mornings and it makes sense.
It does sound like you may be making progress though as you said you are starting to feel some improvement though that is a good sign that it is working! I've read many times that it takes quite awhile to get you to be actually feeling 'good' or 'normal' so we just have to enjoy the good times in the beginning even if they are few and far between, and remind ourselves that the meds are working because we are having small bouts of feeling better.
Here is what they say about why anxiety is worse in the mornings:
The “stress hormone” cortisol is released by the adrenal glands in response to fear or stress. Researchers have studied the cortisol awakening response (CAR) and have found that cortisol is highest in the first hour of waking for people with an increased level of stress in their lives. This helps explain why you may experience an increase in anxiety in the morning.
Hopefully that goes away over time for us! 😃
