My first post op night I asked for something to help me

sleep. I woke up in the night, unhooked my drip and staggered

side to side to the bathroom, I didn't see a problem, drip bottle

wasempty. Back in bed going to sleep. Suddenly a huge female

prison guard appeared by my bed, with her 25stone colleague

close behind. They were reprimanding me, I couldn't figure why,

I thought it was a dream. I confess this stupid act. I survived

to smile about it, no harm done.. We all do daft things.. I brought

my own sleeping pill after that, though!

Oh boy, that reminds me of trying to get a sleeping pill in hospital myself!

Even going to the toilet was HARD redface because the prison warders had confiscated all my stash of drugs (over the counter stuff) and would not let me have an ordinary suppository out of my own bag! I was sooo embarrassed!

Wow, I must have been lucky, I think the nurses in my hospital were all straight off the catwalk ... mind you I didn't go around disconnecting the drip.

I did get told off when I accidentally disconnected the drain rolleyes when I flung the duvet off because I got too hot.

Yes, we all do something stupid.  Wonder what I'll do next time?

    Hi Sue =)

Yes, I have just started my physio as of yesterday. My mechanics are fine, but naturally my poor leg is weak from not standing on it for 4 months.   It was pretty surprising when I couldn't do some of the basic muscle exercises for more than 1-3 reps.  We'll get there tho =)

I got the all clear to stop wearing those devil spawn child TED stockings as well, so that balanced any disappointment from the physio.

I am moving around more as well, tho there's snow/ice outside, so it's just been motoring around the house mostly. My cat thinks I've volunteered for ambush practice and is quite happy.

Here's to old habits and reflexes and hoping we do things not quite so stupid in the future =)

How are your days going otherwise?

When I am finished with the TED's, I'm going to take the advice from someone on here who said she was making a bonfire of them !

Glad to hear that your doing well, i know its strange doing things that normal people do, i am actually walking with both feet on the floor like you  something that hasnt happened in over a year, i am still taking the dvt pills and still in the stockings, hopefuly in 2 weeks when I go for my 6 week check up, he can say take them off and then they will disintegrate or i will burn them like GRaham said. Have a great weekend.

I plan to wait until I am done with my stick, wrap the TEDs around it, stab the thing into the ground and do a tiki dance around it while it burns.

Dear Sue - yes thats me too. Came close to dis-locating with a twist about 10 days after my surgery. Decided I didn't like the way my pillow was lying on my bed, I was standing beside bed, bent over and twisted to adjust. NOT RECOMMENDED. I collapsed on the bed screaming in pain.  That brought my husband and son who was at our house running, betwwen them they pucked me up and adjusted me on the bed. It came right after a little while, mentioned to Dr at 12 week check up, he agreed came close to a dis-location, after I explained, he also said to me the pain would not have let up if I had dis-located. Staff at hospital most impressed with me for second THR, I had the four step turn down to perfection, no twisting, I had learnt my lesson.
