Mum's Post Menopause Bleeding

Hi everyone. I'm Amanda, and I guess I'm looking for some help regarding my Mum. She's 48, and just today told me she's been having bleeding and almost period like symptoms like sore breasts and stomach pain. I gave her some of my feminax but it only eased the pain and didn't take it away completely. This only started today, and we're making an appointment at the GP today at 9am. The only other thing I heard her mention was that she was peeing more often, but yeah. She's been in menopause for the last 10 years. She had a really early menopause, like the other women in her side of the family. She also had a brain hemorrhage two years ago (was on HRT before that, but doctor stopped it) and she slightly spotted the day after that in hospital. No one was really concerned about it, and it went away promptly. I guess I read a lot, and I've now worked myself into a frenzy of panic, so I thought I'd come here for some support or advice. It'd be much appreciated.

    Hello Amanda

Welcome to the forum, I can understand the worry. I have had something similar but not quite. I had what they called post meno bleeding which had to be checked out, but I have ovarian failure so never had natural periods. They still investigate it just the same, but mine was attributed to the bhrt I was on. Checking out with the GP is the way to go, they referred me to a post meno bleeding clinic (catchy 😊) where I met with a specialist nurse, had an examination, a smear and an ultrasound. It was all done and dusted quite quickly and in my case all was fine. There isn't much you can do practically at the moment, except to be sure she is seeing the right people. I'm sure you'll get responses from ladies with a similar story, but try not to worry and I hope all goes well xxx

Hi, sorry to hear about your worry. I don't have similar experience but I hear that it is common that women can have sudden periods/bleeding year after menapause. Try not to worry lovely. See what gp says. I had mini stroke in the past so I cannot take HRT. It is the same reason why your mum can't take HRT. All the best to you and your mum. Hugs

I didn't realize it was this common. It's a relief to read this. Thanks so much. She has an appointment tomorrow at 11am, as an emergency. Obviously I'm thinking the worst. It feels really unfair so soon after her brain haemorrhage. Hopefully everything will be okay xx

So I didn't know where to post an update, but my Mum had her appointment at the GP this morning. She said she got a bit panicked because the doctor said the "C" word. The doctor ordered a CBC and has requested an urgent appointment at the hospital for her within the next two weeks. I'm not sure what to think. Everyone I've seen mentioning post menopausal bleeding hasn't had any other "period-like" symptoms like my Mum has.
