Muscle relaxants

Posted , 5 users are following.

Well after having two total lower body spasms from thighs to feet, both legs, I phoned the doctors and got some muscle relaxtants.  I took two tablets the first night and it lessend the spasms, though I still had a full on as I was getting up to get ready.

Last night I took them as normal at 9.00pm then woke at 12.30am to go to the bathroom. I took another dose, even though it was 30mins before I should of, I like to keep 4hrs between. Woke at 2.30am could not keep my legs still at all, wanted to turn over all ways, in the end got up at 3.00am before I did something I shouldn't.

Think I will go back to one dose and risk the spasm, it's over quicker than the restless legs.sad Was nice having no stiffness though.

Anyone else use them?

    HI Lynn,

May I ask what you did what you shouldn't have ???

I asked for muscle relaxants but my GP didn't give me a prescription because he thought the risk of falling was higher ( I live alone) - he also mentioned that it might not be benificial as these cramps and spasms are part of the recovery process - in case it would get worse, mpore painful and longer episodes I should go back and see him - keep it warm (or cold), do gentle stretches , keep yourself hydrated (I do not drink enough water redface) -

I think you made the right decision to cut down to one dose ...

    big warm hug

I only need them on a night, but if I use them I will stick with one dose, didn't like the jiggly legs, just couldn't get comfortable., and the spasms are over quickly.  I was just letting them run their course until everything went at once. I did feel a bit dopey though when I got up and maybe should not of gone downstairs but I'm ok.

I thought I was going to cross my legs over, with being half awake, but I didn't.

I had the uncontrollable spasms too - both times, but they do get weaker and pass off eventually.

That's what was starting to happen, had two nights with nothing then two big ones came along, Probably better off letting them come.

Ohhh I hope your ok Lynne.

From the accounts in this post; I dont want any spasm please sad. Last week I had a shooting pain go right down my leg from my calf down and soon after that I almost lost my balance while walking over to my heater (very short distance from where I initially was) It was like my hip and thigh area just got really tight and caused me to lose my balance a bit. It really did unsettle me, as I not long before just got out of the bath and was so gratful....... Reading this post just reminded me of that episode eek

Not everyone gets them Blessed, but people do get allsorts of pains and yes, you certainly know you have them, whatever they are. I never get them in daytime only night, but do get niggles in my thigh during the day, but they not too bad now. It'll pass

You may of had one, it does tighten like squeezing together until it can go no more. Could always have a word with the doc especially as you nearly lost your balance, last thing you want is a fall.

Spot on Lynn, not very common, but nothing to be worried about either. Mine were only in evenings/nights too.   Relly odd feeling that you are somehow tensing right up, and cannot stop it at all.
