Hy one and all valsam here once again. So went for my 6 week follow up yesterday saw a nice surgeon.. everything i sed to him about the numbness on the right side of my kneecap and the stinging sensation pain  on the left sode pf my kneecap and the pains up near my thigh. He said its all nromal we would be very worried if you said to me you were havin numbness in the lower leg near the ankle. He looked at my scar and asked to see my unoperated leg too and sed lookin at them both together u still have a lot of swelling,( im am. Using ice cuff with  the bucket) he said my bed was around 95 and its the swelling thats stoppin it goin a bit further.. i had questions .. excercise bike? He sed yes but only as or when and how painful do wotever i feel comfy with.. swimming? He sed yes swim , walk in the water but be very careful becos the most dangerous part is not slippin over in the changin rooms or to and from the pool.. cycling further down the line . He sed not for a long wile yet . Other than that ill still be goin to phayio for a while yet and any probs go to my own dr and it will go back to them as they will keep me in the hospital loop for the next year. So for me

onwards and upwards ,, good days but some not so goos. I hope any lf this info will help some of you . Xx

The conversation you had with your doctor pretty much the Same as I had with mine in my firstTKR. I see him again in January with this last TKR I expect the same words to be used. Good LUCK in your recovery xxxx

Hi there, yep I was told much the same last year with my 1st knee. You will get there, you're doing everything you should. Relax & enjoy the view??

I wish you speedy recovery, good rehab, a very merry Christmas & a peaceful New Year. You will soon be back to your best again.

I'm now on the 5th day post op on the 2nd knee, so a way to go yet, still in the pain & discomfort stage with loads of bruising. I had very little bruising last year, & nowhere near the pain! Just goes to show how any 2 ops can be so different.

    All the best

I found Arnica gel very good, might be worth a try?

How tired are you compared to last time around, if you can remember?

Christmas is certainly going to be different!

Hi Jenny, arnica sounds just the ticket, it's cooling too. Have some here somewhere, will definitely try.

I am more tired this time around. I think also it's only having 2 weeks notice before the op & having to squeeze in the pre op, therapy session & 2 blood tests (which all had to be done on different days!), as well as get all the Christmas shopping, wrapping, cards written & numerous shopping lists! For 2 weeks I went around with lists of this & that in my head!! I was glad to get into hospital & get away from it! By the Friday 15th December I just said that's it, no more Christmas stuff (after all there is always Amazon!), what we haven't got we won't have! I was admitted & operated on Saturday 16th!

TBH I didn't go back on the waiting list until 26th October, so didn't expect a call until Spring 2018! I think some had turned down a major op just before Christmas!

So yes Christmas will be different this year! They can wait on me for a change! No cooking, clearing away or washing up! What's not to like!

Another mince pie? Oh yes that will be fab, especially with a small glass of Buck's Fizz! Cheers!

And of course, with the practice run done this year, they will all be ready to carry on the same next year, while you relax! 😀😁😅

Long story as short as poss. I was told in 2010 that I needed BOTH knees to be replaced but was too young at 57!  I was told to go away & come back when Icouldnt stand the pain any more!

Went back & on list April 2016. Surgeon advised one at a time, so had rTKR October 2016. Then couldn't get a 6 month appt! Should've been June this year, I had to fight to get October this year! Went back on list 26th October for left TKR!

      E voila!

Sounds good! Thank you for update!

Exercising in water is excellent if you are able to throw any self consciousness aside!

I got some ankle floats from sports direct to increase resistance. ..I used from around 10 weeks post op.

You feel so free in the water!

Yes, but careful! No running around the pool or dive bombing allowed! 😀😃😁
