My First HSV-2 OB.... I feel its not getting better!

Posted , 3 users are following.

I first felt itchy exactly 8 days ago. I thought I had a yeast infection. I

treated myself with over-the-counter Monistat. After two days I noticed that my Labia felt like they were burning. It was the worst when I went to urinate. I finally went to the ER 4 days ago and hot the horrid diagnosis of herpes, which I was not expecting at all. The attitudes of the doctors and nurses changes after they knew what I had. That didn't help my embarrassment and feeling awful about myself. I was given Acyclovir. I have been on that for 3 days now and I feel my OB is just getting worse. I found new blisterstoday and I'm even more swollen than I was. I'm taking care to keep clean and dry and wearing cotton panties. The pain of urinating is so bad I don't want to go at all. I've tried Epsom salts baths and they don't offer much relief. Today I noticed an ache in my lower buttocks and in my rear upper thighs. Why am I still getting new blisters after being on treatment for three days? Is this normal? I'm worried this OB is going to last forever and I'm in despair!

hold your lips open when you pee, I will try to find out what I was given for my outbreaks but it does work. Its white pills, not coated or anything, and long pill shape. Like a rectangle with rounded edges. I will find out the name and maybe you can request it. Call you gyn and tel them what is going on. And you should complain about the hospital ppl acting like that. It's rediculous.

Thank you chey317. I would appreciate any information.

I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. It's a shame people you need to trust can't be professional.

    Hello Shl,

Sorry to hear you got this awful virus, I use tea tree oil (it must be good quality and 100% tea tree oil, otherwise it wont work, you may have to experiment with different brands, it must sting when applied to open sores), when I get the itching feeling (even if the area is just red without blisters) I apply the oil with either cotton wool or an ear bud and hold it there for about a minute, never re-dip, only use the cotton wool/ear bud once, I do this a couple of times a day,it usually takes the itch away, if blisters appear, I use the same method but I try to pop the blisters with an ear bud soaked in the oil, it hurts and stings but it makes them stop itching and heal faster, when I shower and Im having an outbreak, I use a cotton wool ball soaked in oil to wash around the mons pubis, even though theres no outbreak there it feels relieving and its stops the occasional random outbreak breaking out there, because it happens every so often an ob in a new place I think its because it travels down the nerve ending and just pops up randomly.

But always becareful not to spread the virus round your body, dispose of cotton wools used, wash hands, and after a shower/bath use a hair dryer on low heat setting to dry your lady parts.

If your unlucky like I was to get outbreaks constantly (don't worry not everybody is like that, and its rare for me now 5 years later to get obs, and when I do they are not so bad if I treat them early) try eating a large chunk of fresh pineapple daily (I mean every single day even when you have no ob), or fresh non-concentrate juice daily, its worked in stopping my outbreaks, and its much healthier than the pills.

Your ob wont last forever, if you smoke it will last a few days longer than usual, but once your blisters pop you will start to scab and heal and the pain/discomfort dies down, sometimes taking a pain killer will help with the leg/thigh/but pains, and that too after 5 years has more or less stopped for me when it was almost constant in my life, things really do get better/easier to deal with.

Research the internet theres certain foods/drinks that you should avoid early on with hsv as they will trigger an outbreak same as stress and lack of sleep will trigger outbreaks too, as I say Ive had it 5 years and at first I couldn't eat drink most of the things on that list as I got ob after ob on top of ob it was awful but now even with a baby (hence hardly any sleep every night) I manage to eat and drink what I like, and hardly have any sleep and still manage the hsv-2 quite well so dont be in despair you will get to manage it and work out what works best for you...hope this helps a bit

Thank you Mandy... You were very informative. The tea tree oil is the only thing I have not tried yet as far as home remedies.

I've heard some say you need to dilute it???

I do have pure 100% organic tea tree oil as I use it for other things already.

I don't currently have fresh pineapple, but I am drinking some juice until I can get some.

I also started Lysine, B Complex, Eccinachea, and Propolis. I normally eat very healthy and I have cut out sugar in my diet.

I have internal sores that seem to be weeping very badly and I cannot keep the inside dry. I'm worried about the new formation of blisters. Why am I not healing yet? Im on day 10 of first initial symptoms and day 4 of Acyclovir.

Its ok, I never dilute the tea tree oil, I know it says to dilute it on the bottle but it doesn't work unless you use it un-diluted, and if you get the blisters up your hoo-har I'd imagine it would hurt to put the oil up there so I dont know if you can, I don't get the blisters up there and I feel fortunate for that, I wouldn't know how to treat blisters up there but I think it would be best not to use tampons again, it could spread it and make the infection worse, some people Ive read use tampons still and I think its a big no-no, a period can set an ob off too so be careful round that time of the month.

The supplements you are taking are good, I have read various reports of people using them, if you like to eat healthy foods and supplements get some virgin organic cold pressed coconut oil eat a couple of tablespoons a day that can also work well at stopping obs, it can also be applied to sores and act as a barrier say when you have a pad on and its rubbing on the sores, also sounds crazy but drink lots of water if it hurts to wee, the water dilutes the amonia in your wee so it wont sting as much, fill a bottle with warm salty water, or just warm water and pour that on your parts as you wee, or you can just wee in the shower or bath, don't bother about being shy about it do what ever makes it more comfortable for you, dont wear underwear at night and wear loose clothes, get some air to the area if you can it helps with the healing/scabbing you don't want to keep the area moist at all.

Some people swear by using neem seed oil, I have never tried it so I don't know, some people also use manuka honey, I tried it once, I just prefered tea tree oil.

Don't be dismayed by the narrow minded staff at the place you went, chances are they were old or young and stuck up either way they were very un-professional.

I've also read about the coconut oil. I am definitely going to try that if I have an OB during a period. I can imagine wearing a sanitary napkin will be brutal against the sores.

I also read about people crushing up Lysine tablets and applying that directly to the sores. I have not tried that. Epsom salts baths help soothe things for a while and leave me feeling clean temporarily.

I did find out today from the other tests and swabs I had taken while I was at the ER that I have a UTI and Bacterial Vaginosis on top of HSV-2. What a wonderful week this has been. I'll never forget it! Thanks for the advice, it's nice to be able to converse on such a topic.

I'm sorry your having such a bad week, things can only get better from here and the sarcasm points to you not losing your sense of humour about this which is a positive thing, you seem really strong, the uti and bv will go and you'll be back to normal in no time, lol yeah its always nice to talk about such things I agree, the big picture is your still you, your relatively healthy, its just a small hicup compared to what some people have to live/deal with, think of those poor buggers with hiv, I'm sympathetic for them and feel fortunate/grateful that I only have this instead.

Let us know how you get on with the tea tree oil and or other remedies you try.
