My Fluoxetine Diary

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hello There! I am an 18 year old girl who, because of anxiety and depression has had to drop out of college twice before. This September I am trying again for my final attempt at college, studying Performing Arts.

I was prescribed Fluoxetine late last week and today is the first day I will take it. At the moment I am working 3 days a week and am trying very hard to keep up a healthy social life.

In this diary I will post every day to talk about how I'm feeling and the side affects or symptoms I feel!

It would be nice if you could follow be along the way! smile

Have a lovely day x

Day 1 - I took my first dose at 10:30 this morning as soon as I woke up. I then proceeded to have a breakfast bar and some raspberries as I did not know if I should have been taken with food. I spent the day at home to just be on the safe side incase I had a reaction in the medication.

A few hours after taking the tablet I experienced quite a bad upset stomach (which I was anticipating) and felt pretty sluggish all day.

This evening I am feeling alright although there is some slight anxiety about tomorrow because of a 5 hour shift at work. Hopefully the stomach problems will not get in my way but I will keep you posted tomorrow!

    Good night x

The nausea and general uneasy feeling is a common side effect. For me, it kinda came and went the first week but it was never terrible. I found I just had to eat whenever I could, and drink plenty of water.

I wish I had done this too!

Indeed, thanks for sharing and know you can always come back here and get support from people who've been there, as well as those who are just starting out too. This forum has been a huge help and was one of my few 'safe zones' on really bad days.

Day 2 - Today was really tough. I am not one to get anxiety in the morning but I woke up feeling very uneasy and nervous. I had anoth bought of nausea and soma he problems all morning but it settled down by lunch. I proceeded to go to work that afternoon and had the worst shift, I kept brakeing glasses because my hands were shaking so much and I felt constantly overwhelmed. I also appreared to have some pretty severe short term memory loss as I forgot orders over and over again. This has really shaken me up and I just want to go to bed.

I presume this is what life will be like for the next couple of weeks.

Day 3 - I feel like I'm starting to settle into the routine of the medication. I had a terrible night sleep due to multiple random panic attacks (which I did not experience before taking the medication) and have had a constant feeling of unease all day.

I have noticed random bouts of sheer panic come over me for no reason with nausea and heart palpitations.

Although the stomach ache has seemed to have settle down for now (touch wood).

Day 4 - Most of my worse side affects seem to be wearing off, I have not experienced any stomach pains or dizzy spells which implies tags my body is starting to get used to the medication.

I have noticed some recurring side affects that spread to suit the medication better. I have been dealing with pressure headaches for the past couple of days as well as; lack of concentration, forgetfulness, tiredness and muscle pain.

These are more manageable symptoms as I don't feel ill anymore but just a little cloudy headed. I can still carry out day to day tasks but they do take more time and I have to really focus to stay calm and collected all the time.

I have a feeling this is the start of the 'low' everyone has been telling me about

You sound like your body is responding well to the medication and thats a great sign! Just keep as busy as you can and try to keep a positive outlook. Sounds easy, but it's hard as hell some days. You're doing well!
