My hemorreidectomy story

**hi everyone, my name is jalil i am from mexico, i had my hemorreidectomy (2 externals, 3 internals ) 5 weeks ago, i can say that is one of the most painful experiences that i had in my life. fortunately i am always in contact with my doctor, he is an specialist and i can text him in whats app. i am 33 years old , i did exercise at leat 5 days a week, i ate healthy. I did some research regarding the healing time of the operation 2-3 weeks, 2 weeks my ass. i am still in pain, i didnt bleed in the 2 week but at the start of the 3 week i started to bleed so i call my doctor he did a check up (painful as hell) and he told me that everything was fine. The thing is that i feel like the 3 week was worst that the second one, he told me that my stitches were gone so that is the reason for the bleeding. the thing is that i didnt expect to be so much time in pain, and the swelling is the worts you feel like you want to go to the toilet all the time. For me the surgery was a choice, i did weight lifting, my parents have hemorroids and i had anal sex, after years of dealing with creams and pills i decided to have the hemorreidectomy. The process is very tired and slow im so grateful for my husband, he has been so patient and supportive, however is not the same to talk to people who already had the experience, so how long takes to feel human again ?

    Hi Jalil,

I'm also a gay man, early 30s, who participates in anal sex and just had this surgery.

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. I've found that there are lots of stories and comments on this site if you search around for haemmoroids / surgery. Reading them can be helpful for more information and just to not feel alone. I am four months post-op (2 external) and I posted a bit about my experience already so you can read about my own struggles. I've written to a couple of people who wrote their own stories, and they replied to me, even if they were done with their surgeries and struggles years ago.

One thing that I've seen common in almost every post is that EVERYONE was told that the healing process would take about 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, and EVERYONE has taken much, much longer. I am four months after, and I am not fully healed. Some people are ten months out and not healed. Some people are 2 months out and fine. Everyone's experiences are different, everyone seems to have different lingering symptoms, but the common complaint is that the doctors did not warn us about the PAIN in advance, and gave very, very unrealistic timelines for healing. My doctor told me I could start working out again in a week! It took MONTHS before I felt like I could. I'm at 4 months and still having issues, on and off. He also said I could have anal sex about in 3-4 months, and I do not think I am anywhere close to that.

I will say that, for most people on here, it seems like the first month to six weeks are the worst, and then it is a LONG and SLOW recovery...two steps forward, one step back...small progress, sometimes set back by a flare up of pain, or bleeding, or swelling. Do keep in touch with your doctor and see what works for you. Baths, creams, suppositories, teas, diet, exercise, etc. are all suggested...it's just about finding the right combination for you. I'm still working on mine! Listen to your body. I know it's tough...I feel like my internal organs are new and I'm relearning how to do some very basic, primal things...

And do keep in mind that the people who end up on this site (like me and you) are the ones who are going through a tough time...those who have healed, or didn't have any issues, are not on here...so there is hope!

If you want to talk more, feel free to send me a message. Feel better buddy! It's ROUGH I know!!!

thank you so much, i am in my 2 month i keep bleeding every time im going to bm, i feel way better, but yes is slow very very slow, my doctor told me in the last visit that it takes 9 months for the swelling to go down little by little. The only thing that i think was lucky was for doing the surgery in 2020 because all the quarantine i had to stay at home, i guess the pains keeps shifting, also the bm sometimes are good, sometimes are really bad, thanks for reading it really helps.

ps sorry for the spelling and grammar
