    Hi Jardine,

I felt exactly the same and wanted to cancel my op last June, I was scared stiff but I went ahead and it wasn't even half as bad as I imagined. The worst pain is the wind and bowel pain which I got on day 3 I think but they can give you something for that.  Everyone was lovely on the ward and the nurses were great fun even the cleaner cheered us up every morning.  I didn't want to come home lol

i was sore but nothing too bad and I even went out for a walk round the village for an hour the week after and I was fine although a bit tired.

Good id luck with your op, you will feel so much better afterwards xxxx

Hi, i had TAH ans BSO 6 weeks ago. I felt very nervous before my op, to the point that my bp shot up and they were not sure if it could go ahead. I am a very level headed person, I work in a hospital so I'm not squeamish! I knew what lay ahead maybe that was the problem! But you just have to brace yourself and forge ahead really. I had to do relaxation to get my bp down cos there was no way I was going to have op cancelled! Just had to approach it as I did childbirth and kept telling myself that lots of other women had been through this! But you have to just focus on longer term. I had so many problems in few months before op that I was in no doubt that I had to have the op and I was surprised that when I mentioned it, friends , work colleagues etc had been through op or known someone who had it done. It is tough the first few weeks but lots has settled now and looking forward again. Just block out the first 2 months after op on calendar and make sure you take that recovery time . You will need it. Make sure you get mobile after the op and potter about when you get home. But don't overdo it. Your body will tell you when you have done too much and make sure you listen to it, not to what other people say! Sit and watch DVDs if u want , as long as u r on the move and get up regularly. I had trouble sleeping and lots of trouble with my bowels(sorry) just keep looking at the forums and websites for advice, I looked at hystersisters website. Take some treats with u when in hospital , I had my portable cd and ate a packet of cadburys chocolate fingers when I could finally eat! And I bought some new undies and nighties from m and s , which made me feel bit better after the op. Take care and look after yourself.

Hope all goes well. I am not sure what is happening to me yet. Had MRI scan yesterday and see consultant again in 2 weeks.  Then will know what is happening.  I am in July.  Fibroid was grapefruit sized when has US scan in October. But my stomach has really swolen since then. Been off work for one month already.  Really feel for you- the other posts seem really helpful.
