So. Does age and/or Health Care Authority have any effect on the recovery process?

To kick off, I am 55 and live in Kent.

Im 19 and waiting for mine but i think it depends. People who have a normal thr and stick to the rules and dont try to get rid of their sticks seem to recover quicker. Due to my op being more complex i have no idea how i will recover.

But from what iv seen on here, people who get rid of their crutches seem to end up in more pain or limp and so on

No i rang up and the secutary gave me "because your op is so complex your not in till after feb" speech but she says i can keep ringing to get updates haha. Will be my 12th op so hopefully the one to fix me.

But take your recovery slowly. It helps. I keep learning that the hard way

Haha you will continue to get unexpected news on here and make some fantastic friends.

But im glad you will listen to my advice.

But it is hard to take a slow recovery especially if yoyr impatient like me and just want to be up and doing stuff, but if you keep in your mind, if you follow instructions you will be living a better life soon

Best of luck. Whens your op?

      Thanks Sarah

My op is on Jan 21st. I can't wait though. And as long as the op is not delayed, I hope to miss the worst of the winter by being indoors.

12 Operations. You poor thing. No wonder you are keen to get back up and out.

I dare not pry but am curious.....

Crumbs. That sounds like, well,  if you don't already like hospital food, you should develop a taste for it. he he

I have lived with this since my 20s but did not realised it until last year. I thought it was normal. It was only on a routine visit to my GP, that he sent me for an x-ray. Initially I was told I was too young. After a second opinion, I was granted an operation. woo hoo. And now I can not wait. I have one week of work and then I should be off for three months.

I believe I am one of the lucky few. I am OK sleeping and am not on any meds (which the nurses suggest is unusual).

Feb 3rd huh? Only a few weeks now. Best of luck - we must compare notes .
