Nearly 2 years

nearly 2 years after a nasty hip break resulting in thr on right side, I was doing really well, now if I stand for any length of time I am left almost unable to move. The pain is excruciating down through my buttock and into my groin. I have to manually lift me leg and rest for hours before the pain goes away. Any ideas anyone.

My idea is for you to see an orthopedist. He will check to see if there is a problem with your bone/implant or if it is a soft tissue injury. Either way, it sounds serious enough to warrant the attention of a medical professional. Good luck with this, Elaine!

Good news! Be sure to bring a written list of your complete orthopedic history and all the questions you have. The appointments go by so quickly, and, for me, it's easy to get befuddled and forget things I wanted to address. Good luck, Elaine!

Hi Elaine sorry your having a bad time of it, I also fractured my left hip and pelvis last year, nearly 10 months now but I didn't have surgery due to misdiagnosis, but like you I am stuck being on crutches because of exscrutiating pain when I try to 100% weight bear, its in the same place as yours as well, I do Physio once a week and hydrotherapy once a week and no one seems to know why its happening, I can't give you any real answer's other than we think mine is possibly muscular in origen, see your GP and if nescassary get referral back to consultant and you also new xray to make sure yoy haven't done any damage to bones, if xray shows its OK then you need MRI to check for micro fractures and muscle damage, let me know how you get on and lastly you may find ice helps and please don't push yourself through pain its telling you something so please listen

    Dear Elaine

Sorry to her that you are having pain after two year of good progress.   When anyone reports that there is pain and there does not seem to be an obvious reason I think BACK.  Yes I'm sure many on this forum are sick to death of me saying it but such a lot is effected by our backs and are frames, so I would be making a visit to a good chiropractor...not the McTimoney ones though.

    Cheers

    Hi Elaine,

Sorry to hear that you are in pain.  I'd make an appointment with the specialist as soon as possible to find out what's causing it.  Hopefully it's just something minor that needs attention.

    Take care!

    Dear Elaine,

So very sorry for the pain your experiencing.  Absolutely see your ortho Doc to rule out anything serious that needs correcting.  That said, I am with Richard in that the BACK can be causing problems that is not terribly obvious.  It very well could be referred pain, but you need to have the Doc check it out.  The back is what I myself am worried about going in for my 2nd THR.  I have an arthritic back but I also have scoliosis (curvature of the spine) to a substantial degree and I worry about another hip surgery throwing my back into a different alignment, among other health concerns.  Keep us posted!!

    hi elaine,

    when did this pain started?

regardless, I agree with others that you might want to have it checked, just to be on the safe siede and get peace of mind ---

pain is a sign given to you by your body that something is not right -

Please come back here an let us know how you are getting on, okay?

Just read in one of your older discussion that you live in Greece... do you still live there?

    take it easy for now

    big warm hug

    renee
