Hi ladies
I've been suffering with what I believe to be peri menopause symptoms since January
Massive period changes, length, duration, flow and over the last 9 months I've had everything from mood swings, aches and pains in back, ribs and joints, to hair loss, greasy spotty skin to my psoriasis clearing up.
I've spoken to 2 practice nurses and 2 doctors and they just keep offering me the coil for my period problems and anti depressants for moods. I had my FSH checked back in February but it came back at 6 which is normal however my periods are now getting closer together apart from this month when I've gone 30 days !??! I am going to speak to the doctor tomorrow as I want my FSH checking again and my ribs and joints as quite sore .I really just want advice on into get them to listen and understand that ALL of my problems started at once and therefore must be connected. What do I do? ? Sheena xxx

Hi Sheena, I know how you feel hun, i went through all this & more before i started hrt in april after being diagnosed as perimenopausal at 45. i am very lucky compared to many ladies on here in that my gp is a specialist meno/gynae gp. She said that blood tests are largely a waste of time in diagnosis of peri or meno, as hormones fluctuate so much even hour to hour. she diagnosed me on age, symptoms plus i had had 2 yrs of very irreg bleeding, prior to all the mental symptoms, sweats, headaches & abdo pain. as a first step for you, try phoning your doc surgery & ask if they have a specialist doc or nurse who specialises in menopause, gynae or womens health. many surgeries do these days. you may find if they have one & see them they will be much more receptive to your symptoms & offer some possible solutions to help you. take care hun, & good luck. xx

Hi
I have literally been on the phone to doctors when you were typing haha when I asked the sharp receptionists reply was well you could see anyone!!! I honestly don't know what to do!! Don't know whether to change doctors although ours are merging with two other practices in October maybe I should wait and ring the other 2 see if there's anyone there who can help. I'm 44 with a list of symptoms as long as my arm and irregular periods now for about 10 months. X

Hi Sheena, you could try phoning at a different time/day & see if you get a more co-operative receptionist on the phone (they switch them around at my surgery, & some are more helpful than others) just a suggestion hun. x
