Needing help.

I know this is a fluoxetine site. But I sure need some help. I couldn't get a response on the other thread. Im on fluoxetine 40 mg. And was also prescribed trazadone for sleep. I took it for about 5 weeks. I took 12.5 mg and occasionally 25mg. My dr said that I could just stop taking it well I did. All was ok till about the 8 to 10th day. And I started going backwards again. Anxious, depressed, I'm frustrated just wanna feel better. I guess 5 weeks is long enough to build a dependency on it. Just wished I'd have known. Should I start back on it at 12.5 mg. And stabilize? And then I don't know what taper plan to use. Just need some help. I posted on the trazadone page but with no response. Please don't go on about the dr poor advice on stopping it. That's in the past and done I need to get better. If anyone knows anything about trazadone please help. What can I do that would alleviate this should I go back to the 12.5 mg or a different dosage? I took about 5 mg at 4 this morning. And it did relax me somewhat. The draft nurse told me not to take any until I heard from her. But I had to do something I could feel it getting worse.

    HI Danny,

I can't help you with the trazadone sorry, but how long have you been on fluoexitine?

Im just wondering if it might have anything to do with how you are feeling.

I've been on it for 6 1/2 months. It's also been up and down even before I took the trazadone.

Is it a psychiatrist who is helping you or your G.P.? Do you trust him/her?

Im no expert but I wonder if the fluoexitine is working well for you.

Have you tried checking on the internet about trazadone withdrawal?

It's a psychiatrist. I don't think the fluoxetine is as good as past citalopram use but I think I had a temper on it as well. Got upset easy. I trust her sh wants me to start abilify and I'm nervous about that. I've read up on trazadone withdrawal and it's spot on with what I'm feeling but my psych said it can't be it cause it hasn't been long enough and not a big dose. I don't know if I agree with that. I guess if it gets me well.

Well we all respond differently to medications. There is also room to increase your fluoexitine. Abilify did not work for me. I am on Lamotrigen. It's a mood stabilizer and it's working great for me.

There are many different medications out there. Unfortunately it can take time to find the ones that work best.

Have you heard back from the nurse?

Yeah. She wanted me to keep on taking the trazadone along with the abilify and fluoxetine. But my pharmacist said to only take the abilify since I've been off for 14 days and we wouldn't know if the abilify was working or it was a he combo of the abilify and trazadone so I'm gonna take only the abilify at 2 mg. I hope it works. Anything I need to know about it before taking it? What is Lamotrigen?

I know I can increase the fluoxetine but I just hate to wait the additional 10 weeks or better for it to start working with the increase. It's so slow and I've had just up and downs with the 40 mg so far. I'm afraid if I go to 60 mg. It will be the same with the ups and downs. What dosage are you on?

I'm on 30mg fluoexitine. But I was on it before for about 25 years. It stopped working because of a drug interaction. I tried cipralex and Zoloft during a 4 year period and was put back on the flou. They said it should work again as it would be new to my system. And it has started working but just. I have been on it for 6 and a half weeks. I previously used to take 80mg.

The ability did nothing for me. Everyone's different though.

Lamotrigen is a mood stabilizer. I also take Quentipine. They both also help the flou to work better, so I'm told.

Trust your pharmacist. They know about the medications far more than the doctors do. You can always ask your pharmacist about your concerns.

Fluoexitine does take a long time to get stabilized in your system. But when it works it's great.

I had horrible side effects for the first 4 weeks. Anxiety, nausea, the shakes.

Its setting down now, but lots of people say it can be up and down for awhile.

I've been on fluoxetine for 6.5 months. I've been told that it can take a bit longer but I think surely that's been long enough. I don't know what to do. I'm tired. It's been nearly a year of this up and down.

I know it's exhausting. I've been dealing with this for 9 months and it's just starting to get better.

I wish I could help you more.

Talk to your doctor and pharmacist about how you feel and your concerns.

You will get better, it just takes time and perseverance.

Stay strong and know you are not alone.
