hi this is my first time posting on here but I have had very bad anxiety for six weeks now. I noticed discomfort in my vulva and went to the doctor about a yeast infection or bv. I had a full pelvic exam where nothing abnormal was found, I also had them feel my lymphnodes, visually exam and search for any bumps, lesions, tears and nothing. Said my discharge was more acidic and it just irritated my skin. The feeling hasn't gone away in these last 6 weeks. Every week I have seen a different doctor and had the same examination done, nothing each time. The irritated feeling has not subsided and has left me so uncomfident and scared that they all clearly keep missing something. Do you think 6 weeks after feelings of discomfort, I would have seen any indication of an outbreak? All infections including STI's were negative, have not been sexually active in three months. Should I continue the care they have told me for my acidic discharge, or seek further medical advice. I currently still have no symptoms besides the feeling of discomfort and dryness on my labia majora. Please help give some ideas, I have crippling health anxiety which I am medicated for. Thank you

Hi Abby,
Are you sexually active? Do you notice the discomfort after intercourse?
Do you use lubrication/condoms if you are sexually active?
I recommend starting at the bottom and isolating the issue with trial and error. Try wearing loose fitting clothing and switching to 100% cotton underwear. Do not use any lubrication or have intercourse. Blank slate. Do this for a week and see if you start to feel better.
Then introduce the lubrication (if any), the underwear you normally use, the condoms ect. Introduce one thing at a time and trial it for a week to see what is bothering you.

thank you for the response! I also think shaving could have something to do with it so maybe taking a break from that would help. Do you think any of the doctors could have missed something? Or I should see more? I am afraid the discomfort is from something such as herpes and all of these doctors have just been missing it

Has there been any sores? If you don't have anything other than discomfort I would say its not herpes. It could be tight clothing, maybe you don't change your gym clothes soon enough after sweating...
I would start by eliminating the possible irritants and see what happens.

I have not had any bumps, lesions, fissures, rashes or anything. Checked both externally and internally. I feel like my mind goes to a place where I wait every day for a blister or bump to appear. The discomfort comes and goes, so I am hoping you are right about the irritant. Does it not sound like herpes at all?

Abby,
It does not sound like herpes. You would notice sores and they would be itchy.
I don't think you have anything to worry about. You have had a thorough examination by 6 different doctors and have had all negative results from tests.
I sometimes have my area feel irritated. Its from sitting and crossing my legs all day.
Stop worrying! 😃
