I had this a couple of years ago, made worse I think by heavy gardening. Tried painkillers and physio for months which didnt help. Then I saw a chiropractor and started a gentle Pilates classes with a very understanding teacher. The pain was relieved within a few weeks. Most of this type of arm, neck, shoulder pain comes from the spine. If you can do stuff to strengthen your spine and correct your posture it can help your pains. Especially when using computers and smart phones.
Hope you can find something to help you soon xx

Oooohh, YES! My problems have a lot to do with old injuries. But they have all started playing up since the menopause. I've had physio and am waiting to see an orthopedic surgeon (but I don't hold out much hope that he can do anything).
When I can I treat myself to a back massage with oils. Yes it does hurt at the start but the lady I see is brilliant. She unlocks all the tension and I walk out of there on a cloud. It is not a cure, but it does make things a lot better - until I tense up again. I wish I could afford to go every week.

Hi, I may try a massage.....my chiropractor has some ladies that give massages that are wonderful as well. The only thing is is my anxiety gets me wound up and I dont think that I can last too long for the whole process. Ugh! If its not one thing its another with peri. But I do love massages! Hope your doing well and thank you for the response

You will be surprise how our muscles need stretching. I've been for two months with very achy neck and feeling a lump in my throat and only young Docor has explained me that! I didn't believe but started doing my bits, Saturday and Sunday was so busy with stripping the walls and painting -good stretches. The result is normal neck on Monday. Honestly, try good old exercise!
Good luck!

I've tried Pilates and yoga. I do stretches everyday but still have this debilitating pain on right side of neck and above collarbone.
Probably tension, yes, but can't seem to solve it.

You might feel the pain there but the problem might be elsewhere. That is why I find massage helps. That's why I go to a 'beauty' clinic - half the price of private physio and a lot more helpful!

If you go through my post you'll see that what I've had . You need to go to GP (hate to ask them myself because they threat me like crazy woman) and tell what you feel like and demand to see a Phisio therapist and X-ray of your neck. We need certant exercises. I'm going to see my on the 15 of November but my painting did do a trick.

My young Doctor recomended as well but as you say at least 15! I've got 2 kids just cannot do it. There are certant exercises for the neck-shoulder on you tube. Have a look.

An X-ray will not show you what the problem is., an MRI might. An MRI showed up three discs in my neck were out of alignment. Even then, there is nothing that can be done.

My problems are not so serious . The gp will never send me to have a MRI done.
My x ray- normal and only minor degenerative changes are noted at the C5-6 level.
That's it.
I see what will happen after physio.

Natallia, that is exactly how I feel, pain in the neck and a lump on my throat, dr. Said it was congestion ( I've been having allergies, just another symptom...) what did your dr. Said about the lump? Is it related to the neck? Thanks

Hi Natallia, you are probably right, we tend to think that when we have these pains dont do too much and baby them but really we should stretch them out. Thats a great idea.....I might just try it Have a great evening and thank you for your response!

I had an X-ray - the disc problem didn't show up. It was only visible on the MRI. I was in an accident years ago - if I had had better treatment then I might not be suffering so much now!

Hi Becky!
As I promissed. My Physio just confirmed that it is my muscels. Showed me some stretches. I didn't know that we really have to do stretches through the pain. My advice- go and get that appointment to see Physio.
He said I was lucky not to have it in the middle of the back. We don't walk right, don't sleep right and lots of things don't do how we ment to.
And the neck problems can give us that "feeling of lump" in a throat.
And hot water bottle for 15-20 minutes if you feel pain+ stretch.
Blessings.
I'm real
