Been given a new date next week for my gall bladder removal operation but I am hoping that I get rid of this cold or chest infection that seems to be lingering with me, had it for 7 days, was coughing up green phlegm, will be seeing my doctor tomorrow to see what he thinks as he may decide to gibe me some antibiotics to get rid of it quicker, although I am seeing the surgeon this week also to discuss about the op etc, so that may help too.

For the first week I didn't feel like eating a lot so kept to soups and toast and bananas. Started to reintroduce 'normal' foods as soon as I didn't feel nauseous. I've still kept to a reasonably low fat diet that I was doing before the op as I"m kind of use to it and actually quite like the fact that I lost a few stone while my gallbladder was playing up.
I've tested myself over the last few months with different foods spicy, fatty etc and I seem to be ok with everything. I kept away from alcohol for about 2 months but have since had a few drinks and all seemed fine. I'm very lucky as I've not had the problem with food after the op that some people have.
The first full bar of chocolate I ate about a month after the op was like heaven - although I was still nervous about eating a lot or certain things for a good 8-12 weeks just because before the op sometimes even a bite of food could kick off the pain.
I hope it all goes well for you and post-op you feel great :-)

I wasn't quite the same with spicy foods etc, but over a year later I am getting the niggling pain around that right shoulder blade area, it feels like more to the back than the front.
The worrying thing for me right now is that if the surgeon notices a stone or stones lodged in a bile duct, he may then be required to change from the laproscopic procedure to the open one, although at least that would certainly sort out what does feel like biliary colic.
I am hoping that it's just an inflamed gall bladder that is causing my pain.
Pain seems to be ok first thing when I wake up, but just now I can feel it as I type this.

For some reason though I think it's something else, and if I still get this pain after say 10 days I will be going back to my GP.
Feel stiff in abdomen area, and haven't had a no.2 since the OP.

Keep drinking lots of fluids (that seems to be the 'fix all' for everything)

I also have not noticed any real difference where the Gb used to be. And I also kept food light for a week and now I am eating normally.
I was in hospital just overnight as I had the op in the afternoon and they wanted to be sure the anaesthetic had worn off.
Bit of mild shoulder pain when the gas was dispelling but now i feel amazing!
