New glasses

As I have posted many times before, I started my perimenopause journey with a migraine aura that affected my vision. I have 24/7 blurriness and a multitude of visual disturbances. Well, today I got new glasses. I have never worn glasses before, but was optimistic that they would help some of my issues. I am so disappointed! I can't even wear them. They make me extremely dizzy with a hint of nausea. It feels like I am looking through an aquarium and had a cocktail or two. They make things slightly clear in the middle vision, but I think worse further out. And, when I take them off my vision is temporarily worse than before I put them on. Does any of this sound normal to the glasses wearing girls out there?

Well hello there 4 eyes! I got the fishbowl effect when putting on glasses anytime my prescription changes. I secretly like my contact lenses better. You will get used to them within a couple of days. The reason why your vision is worse is because your eyes were adjusting, then you took them off, etc. Give it a couple of days and call your optometrist if you still have issues! I have been wearing glasses since kindergarten 😃

Haha! Why is getting old so difficult? I miss my younger eyeballs. It seems the consensus is to try them for awhile. sigh I hope I don't get wrongly arrested for public intoxication while I stumble around. 😃

This is pretty much exactly how I would describe my vision voyage! And honestly, this is one of the hardest parts for me. I can barely see after I take the dumb glasses off.....But give it a few more days to adjust!! Hang in there!!!

Geez, who knew glasses were so tricky? I thought they were magic and you just put them on and they work. So disappointed! Thank you!

Hi staci , you have to get rid of the bifocals, I knew they wouldn't work just awful, get your perscription written out from whoever did your eye exam and order online single vision for distance only, then go into your drug store and try on the readers and walk out with a pair of them, whichever ones work best for you, try them on and hold something in front of you to read.. And when your at home reading with them on don't try and look through them for distance look over them or take them off, then the ones you order for distance use when out driving or shopping watching tv at home ECT... I sent you a private message a while back with the names of the affordable online eye glasses places to shop, but you need your perscription.. Keep them seperate most people can't get use to the combined vision.. It makes you dizzy and sick..

I have an appointment with the neuro-ophthalmologist in March. I think I will try until then to make the glasses work and then voice my concerns. You may be right...maybe two separate pairs are the way to go. I hate that feeling when you take the glasses off and your vision is temporarily worse. It drives me crazy. I will have to remember to look in the distance while doing so with the readers. I remember reading your message. I thought I replied? I will check. Thank you, friend!

I had my first pair of prescription reading glasses about 3-4 years ago. I only used them to read and they are wonderful. Then I decided to get another eye exam just to check and got a new prescription BUT for the glasses you wear all the time--- driving, reading, etc.. (i had no idea what it would be like) I think they are progressive or something like that so when your walking outside it turns darker. I absolute hate them and only use them to read! So I keep one in my purse and one at home. But next time I get glasses they will ONLY be reading glasses-- so much easier!! I know the lady said it would take time to get used to them and my eyes should follow my nose or something like that but NO THANKS, I'll wait till I absolute need them.

Thank you for sharing. I can see without the glasses, so I feel like I have a back-up plan if they don't work out. Haha! I truly never realized glasses were so difficult. I thought you just put them on and they work. My neuro-ophthalmologist specifically told me NOT to get progressives as a new glass wearer. She said it would be too difficult to adjust.
